The time has come?

While heading out to my friend's house this morning, after driving a mile or so, engine warmed up, i came to a stop and the engine was hesitating like crazy, tach needle was flucuating between 500 and 0rpms alot, and the VSA, CEL, and Exclamation mark came on. The lights didn't go out for the rest of the drive and was hesitating. In addition to that, the tranny wouldn't shift into 5th or overdrive at high speeds. I thought the care was going to stall on me at every stop I made. I got to my friends house a few minutes later and shut it off. Then came back and turned it on to go to lunch, only the CEL was lit. The car was still hesitating horribly throughout the drive but now shifts into 5th and overdrive. Got to the restuarant, ate for like an hour, came back out, the car was perfectly normal now. For the rest of the day the car was fine, no lights. Any ideas? Any similiar experiences? Tranny going? Oh yea, recently, the fuel economy on the car has gone to hell also and I wasn't driving into VTEC or flooring it. From 340miles a tank to around 220 to 240miles. I use Shell V-Power. Help please!

How many miles do you have on your '02? Sorry to say, but it sounds like the transmission is slipping. I hope I'm wrong though.

Engine RPM fluctuating is an indication that the idle air control valve is clogged. Do a search on how to fix it.
