tie rods....

did some searching on the forums regarding my shaking issue....found out some people have issue with tie rods on our cars so i checked it out..

checked out my steering rack and pinion and the tie rods, and noticed the tie rod ball and socket, i can twist it back n forth about 70 degrees from rest position, with the car on the ground and barely any effort...no cracks in the boot but also noticed when i give the steering wheel a wiggle you hear a knocking noise..., went under while someone was wiggling it and u can feel it on the rack/pinion.....want some opinions if that is normal for it to knock, and is it supose to be that easy to twist/rotate? arent they supose to be stiff?

Tie rods should have the ability to rock like that. Its the up and down and excessive movement that they shouldnt have. Can you make them pop up and down at all? how about wiggle (not the rotating that you can get)
The rack noise was most likely normal pressure you heard with the system off. If you are unsure bring it in to an alignment shop. If there is a issue with one or both you will have to have an alignment done right after so its easier to have them do it.

there isn't an issue with the outter tie rods they'll move quit a bit. the Noise on the rack might be an inner tie rod that is bad.
