Ticking sound

i have a weird ticking sound on my 02 TL-P that looks to be comming from my driver side wheel. The other thing is it seem to only happen when my car has been driven for a few miles. Has this happened to anyone?

Nope it only makes the sound when it is in motion. It only happens if the car has been driven for a few miles. Maybe something stuck in my tire or loose bearings?

Are you sure your valves aren't rattling? If not, then I remember reading about an emissions control valve part (not EGR) going back and causing this problem. Search around for it.

If it were the valves you would hear it sitting still or if you reved it. If it were the purge control selenoid you would hear it more sitting still than driving. Which leads me to think its something mechanical.

if the ticking sound is only when the car is in motion i would assume you need to repack your front wheel bearing's, the other ticking sound common to the acura is that damn purge valce that is right next to the brake fluid resivour. i replaced mine, helped some, about $50. but if the sound is heard and becomes louder when and only when driving, i bet you need to repack your front bearing, i had to have my right rear done, cost $190 at the stealership, i had no choice at the time, not sure if the fronts are more.

I just had my 60k tuneup done in September and it said that they repacked the bearings. Could it be something else?

i'd take it to them and see what they say. it could also be if you had a rotation, one of the wheels isnt torqued properly and the caliper is hitting the rim.

CV Joint? Is your CV boot torn? Is there a bunch of grease in your wheel well?

we do not pack our wheel bearings.. they aren't even serviceable, they are pressed into the hub and if they make any noise or vibration whatsover, they are replaced...

the purge solenoid will tick constantly even while sitting still and the noise will NOT progress much at all.

the valve MAY BE a possibility, if they are bent you'd notice a power loss and they'd tick erraticlly, it's possible the are out of adjustment. i doubt it, though. Especially if you do not hear ANYTHING at idle.

MORE THAN LIKELY.. theres nothing major wrong with your car like everyone is getting you all hyped up about..

im betting money it's a rock or a nail in your tire..

i spoke to a mechanic and he said that the wheel bearing would make more of a grinding noise than a ticking sound. I'm not sure were to go from here, when i go to the mechanic the sound does not happen at all.

a wheel bearing can make a winding sort of noise when the bearings inside are actually flattened out from extreme overheating. It will sound like a clock winding. That very well could be your noise, but i still vote for a rock or nail!

all i am doing is offering an idea, you never know, and before you say no way in hell, you'd need to be 100% positive that it couldnt even be that. i've seen it happen before, after installing a brake kit and it was b/c of the rim not torqured all the way.

sorry if you took that that wrong way, but that scenario is highly unlikely..
