TicketS on Garden State Pkwy
I got pulled over for speeding on the Garden State Pkwy around exit 58 or so. Anyways, the f#$kin g@y trooper gave me TWO tickets and checked off the "Required to go to Court" box. F@g gave me one for speeding @ 94mph in 65 zone. Another one for wreckless driving. Mind you, I did NOT switch lanes. I was only driving fast on the RIGHT lane.
Anyone have experience with this? Any suggestion or tips would be appreciated. Thanks....

Don't take this the wrong way, but 94 is too damn fast inn a populated area. Different if you were in the middle of Montana.
Can't drum up a lot of sympathy, except to say, slow down.

well the "f#$kin g@y trooper" gave you tickets for only going 94 mph? What did you expect him to do? If you drive that fast you should expect to get caught and deal with the consequences instead of bitching about it. I'm not saying I never drive that fast or faster, but if I get caught I would expect to get a ticket or two.

Wreckless driving is at the discretion of the cop, well in NYC is it and it should be the same there. I think a lawyer would do you some good especially since it two tickets which already would be a hefty fine I think.

If i'm not mistaken, NJ tix don't count towards the license in NY unless it's a DUI.
In any case not sure why ur so pi*sed off at the cop, he was not the one speeding. If you got those tix doing 70 on a 65 i would be mad as well since thats around the flow of traffic on the pkwy... not 94!

TopCat,
You need to prepare yourself before going to court. Wreckless driving is the same as DUI and will stay on your record 3 or 5 years. You will need a lawyer for this case. It will cost you the lawyer fee, but it is better than DUI record. The insurance will be rocket high if you get DUI in your record. If you are a student with low income, then you will need a public defender. I believe the first time you appear in court, you must request an attorney; then they will reschedule you for the second time to plea your case, not too sure how things work now. You must have a real good reason why you were speeding. Did you tell the cop why you were speeding? Normally, cops would ask. If you did answer the cop, then the case will be hard for you to get the DUI off the ticket. Of course speeding ticket you will have to pay. Good luck man.

@ slide or die @
9/10 says you were going MUCH faster than 94mph...so this means that the cop was nice enough not to write you a 30 and over which will raise hell for you.
all in all you should NOT be mad at the cop who was doing his job so you probably deserve the ticket and need to understand why...you didnt have a good enough radar detector!

Not saying I shouldnt have got a ticket. Anyone know around how much $$$ will the speeding ticket be? How much would a lawyer cost?
I heard that since i'm a NYS license holder, i will not get pts for the speeding ticket. How does this apply to the wreckless driving?
I'm assuming the wreckless driving ticket was based on my speed, is this correct?
BTW, i just dont like cops, esp NJ troopers. This is my first speeding ticket EVER, and my first wreckless driving ticket also.

Enter your ticket info here and it looks like you'll find out the fine.

well if its your first ticket then let the lesson be learned not to let it happen again.
troopers have one hell of a mentality on them. i got pulled over for changing lanes with out a blinker, pulled over cop cam to my passenger window and had a conversation to me, he was practically yelling at me and not making any eye contact what so ever.
even for that he let me off with just a no plate ticket, and a written warning.
he could of been a real dick and took you out of the car and stuff. so just pay the fine, the wreckless driving shouldn't make a big deal. if your concerned about it goto court, most likley they won't show.

I have a question for you speeding ticket veterans. I know someone who has a courtdate (and it is required) for 80 in a 55 in GA. Anyone know what he can expect?

Personally, I got a ticket for 74 in a 55 in Murray County, GA by the GSP on July 4th a few years back and it was only $62. This ticket, though, says he MUST attend court.

one thing u can try and fight is that reckless is usually only given for 30 and over which u were not doing, i dunno if thats a law though. u could use that angle and remove the reckless part and save ur license. jersey is like virginia, they have strict rules since they increased their limit to 65

"If I get a ticket for a moving violation in another state, do I receive points on my NYS driver license?
The NYSDMV does not record out-of-state violations committed by NYS drivers in other jurisdictions. The exceptions are alcohol-related violations, drug-related violations, and moving violations committed in Quebec or Ontario. Under special agreements, traffic convictions in Quebec or Ontario are recorded on NYS driver license records and carry points. Except for violations in Ontario and Quebec, points are not added to your NYS record for out-of-state violations.
If you do not respond to a ticket or fail to pay a fine for a moving violation that you committed in any state except Alaska, California, Michigan, Montana, Oregon or Wisconsin, the DMV suspends your NYS driver license until you respond to the ticket or pay the fine. If a driver from a state except these six states fails to respond to a traffic ticket issued in NYS, their driver license will be suspended until the driver responds to the traffic ticket in NYS.
Drivers from other states must contact the DMV in their home state to get information about the effect of a traffic violation conviction that occurs in NYS.
If you receive a conviction for an alcohol-related or drug-related driving violation in any state, your NYS driver license is revoked for at least six months. "

I found that on http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/dmvfaqs.htm
Now my question is the wreckless driving. Does anyone know how much $ they charge you for wreckless driving? and possible points for NYS driver license holder?
