Question Tick, Tick, Tick

Long time reader of the forum, first time poster.

I'm experiencing a rapid sounding tick, tick, tick through my speakers. Doesn't matter if its on AM, FM, CD player, etc.

Dealer checked it out yesterday and of course they found nothing and couldn't recreate the sound. Of course, when I drove it away from the dealership it comes back to haunt me like an old girlfirend.

Any ideas as to what it might be?

Doesn't matter if the AC's on or not.

Perhaps a ghost in the machine...

Yeah, this topic has been covered numerous times before and the cause of it is your cell phone, and depending on what type of network your phone uses, the ticking soung could be much worse. Try this, get any GSM network phone and use it near the audio console while your speaker are turned on. The closer you get to the console the worse it would get. I usually get the ticking noise whenever I'm about to get a call.

Sorry if this has been covered before. I have noticed the tick tick made by my cell phone.

I was wondering if this is harmful to the speakers in any way?

Besides the obvious annoyance

I have also run across this as well. What is kinda weird the radio waves created by the cell phone will get louder the closer to the speaker or the head unit you get. I'm not sure about the long trem effects however. Now just think if it does that to your radio what this could be doing to your head?

I wouldn't worry about your head unless it too has competing radio waves running through it...my head just has a bunch of useless brain cells in it

Maybe it is your old girlfriend.
First remove the grill of the speaker that the clicking sound is coming from, carefully pull her out, making sure not to tear the cone. Then slowly lower your window while accelerating in speed (better safe than sorry I say) and toss said ex while momentarily swerving to the left (in case she grabs your spoiler, well...unless your car doesn't have one, then ignore this step). Did I mention you should try to stay in the first lane ? This way you won't feel guilty about the whole "in a ditch or in traffic ?" issue. Let me know if this helps.

I had the same problem during the first month that I purchased the car. It happened intermittently just about every day for several weeks. Even with the cell phone off. I thought it might be other driver's phones but it would happen in the city and also in the country area were there is nobody in sight. It was very loud and annoying. The clicking/popping noise would even make the subwoofer sound with volume at minimum. Weird thing is that after those several weeks, it went away. After 3 months, so far so good. I was thinking maybe there was something that had to be broken in on the amplifier. Hope it never comes back. Good luck!

Thanks to All for Your Input.

I'm not using the cell phone when the noise occurs nor is it plugged in recharging in the console.

I too wish it would just go away. I've owned the car since the end of April and its been happening ever since.

By the way did you al know that there is a second recall on the original drivers isde window reall? Apparently, the first fix didn't work.

So far we've go two double recalls; one on the seat belts and now on the window. Didn't even know about it until I went in to get the bloody oil changed and to exorcise the ghost in my machine.

Being a four time Acura owner, I'm feeling like I own a FORD!

WHAZ UP!!!!

You dont have to be using the phone....it just has to be on. Sometimes I get that too when the phone receives some sort of signal, but doesnt necessarily rings. If this happens to you again with all the phones off, then it may be another problem. I can almost bet that your phone uses a GSM network. Does it have a smart chip that you can interchange with other phones?

I've heard the noise in my speakers too. It is a rapid clicking that seems to be about 3 clicks or so. It is the cell phone. You do not have to be talking for it to happen. The phone is always looking for a cell and it sends out a signal to find the tower. The tray under the radio is the worst place for the phone. Try putting it in the door. My phone will not make the sound from the door tray. Good luck. If if bothers you turn the phone off completely or leave it at home.
