Tic Tic noise from underneath car

Hey,
I hear this weird tic-tic noise from underneath the car right below driverside rear door. It sounds like some kinda motor is running but not properly... Something not normal sound.. I want to find out what is making that noisy... when I looked underneath the car, all I could see was some kinda big oilfilter looking metal thing.
Any idea??? I am tyring to find out if that is causing my horrible gas mileage..
thanks in advance.

Yeah, the noise by the rear driver's side tire is normal. If I remember correctly, it's the emissions control or something.

Mine usually only does it when it's cold out. When it's warm, I don't hear it.

it has something to do withthe fuel being returned to the fuel tank and vapors. the dealer had told me some are noiser than others. but its not harm full to any thing if its making noises.
i find mine makes the most noise as it gets colder out

I actually brought it to the dealer and it took 3 visits for them to figure that it was the ECPV. Apparently it is only noticeable when you leave the car idling long, but once you drive it, it's gone (unless you stop and idle for a while again).

no its not! thats when the car is off and the heat is causing the metal in the heat shields and piping to expand and contract while cooling.

what we are talking about has been discussed many times.
there are 2 noises. most hear the evap canister under teh car infront of the drivers side rear tire. the other one is a noisy FPR, which is under the hood.

I'm bringing this one back because I think I have the same problem. I also hear the sound of perhaps gases escaping or being released as well. I just want to be well informed when I take the car to the dealer, in be ready for their BS.

I have the ticking on the driver side, can hear it when a give it a little gas from the inside and from under the hood on the driver side. It goes away when I'm doing normal driving. But at moderate speeds I can hear the ticking and whining when I turn the steering wheel.

What you guys think...

Did you guys ever try to reduce the noice from the ECPV & FPR
by cover them up with isolate foam or anti-noice foam ???

Thats a normal thing and if it bothers you you can get it replaced. It usually hapens most when its cold out, but it isnt hurting anything

Nope. Want the sound to go away you need to replace them. especially the evap canister. Foam woudl just rot being exposed to the elements under your car
