Talking Thtotle body conversion project

Hello everyone;
I am thinking about upgrading my throtle body to a TL-S, Is that possible?
what parts do I need to change? I currently have a 2000 TL.
Do I get any gain in power? (since the type-s throtle body is larger than a Tl-P

Thanks for the inputs in advance

1 - Yes it's possible
2 - Virtually no gains unless you port match the intake manifold inlet and build/buy a larger intake.

The TLP intake tract is 2.75". The TypeS throttle body is 3" If you only replace the throttle body, the air still has to travel through a 2.75" intake tube until it gets to the TB, then it constricts again when it enters the intake manifold.

If you want performance gains, get the UR pulleys. Quick, easy, and nice gains for the $$$

I have a 99TLP with the TypeS TB and I am currently working in fitting the TypeS intake manifold.

Sorry to hijack your thread but this has HUGE implications for us lowly 99TL owners.

Not really hijacking since you answered in detail in the 2nd post. Plus we (like you said) could be giving 99-00 owners something else to mod if it does

I would be down for a tl-s IM and TB, if it somehow could fit on my 99, but I am pretty sure it doesn't line up right. i actually thought NSXNEXT tried it and it wasn't even close.

It will line up right, but you need different fuel injector rails. The thing we are questioning is wether it fits under the hood.

I'm very interested to read about this! It won't affect my car, but the geometry of this change is facinating given the design changes in the hood/front end on the '02 model change.

Yea i dont believe it will fit. I have a feeling thats what facilitated the front end redesign. But we can hope. As soon as i get the Type-S engine ill drop it in to find out

The 02-03 TL's have a significantly higher hood-line, I've always wondered why it is so high. When I sit in the lowest position in my car, I'm practically looking down inside the hood! I bet this increase in hood height means you're going to need an 02-03 hood, Kris. Of course then you're going to need the headlights and grille, which means you'll need the bumper - then you should get the taillights and side mirrors and seats. And have a TL-S.
