For those of you with headers
My friend had his obx headers installed today and he pulled the fuse for the ecu and started the car. Ever since then his check engine light came on. Do you think something happened because of the headers or do you think that all the dirt in the headers made the o2 sensor go nuts, or did they mess up. Has anyone with headers ever had the check engine light turn on. Is it normal or should he be worried. I told him to unplug the battery and see what happens. If it stays off then all is fine and if there is something wrong then he can just bring the car to the dealer and have them check it out

wait, he pulled the fuse for the ECU and THEN started the car? if so, i didnt even know the car would start without the ECU.
otherwise, id say the install may have done something, like bumped a sensor or something.
If it was a one time error, after he unplugs the battery for a bit, it will go away. If its a problem that wont go away without attention, hes going to get it the second he turns the car on again.

Bigman, get me on the 2-way and run me through what happened.
He should have unplugged the fuse (which is the same as disconecting the battery) waited a 1/2 hour without turning the car on or having the keys in the ignition. Then plugged the fuse back in and started the car. Is this the order he did things or did he try to start the car with the fuse out?

you don't need to pull the ecu fuse?
header install has nothing to do with ecu? and you don't have to disconnect the battery? the o2 sensor is most likely the culprit/ engine light. installed my obx's with no problems, had the car on the lift today, and they looked great too! yo b why don't you hit me on the 2-way

yes, the obx fits with the neuspeed lower tie bar with room to spare! nothing special was done, went on without a hitch! do a search on my obx header install. there is a pic w/ the header installed clearing the tie bar.
