For those whose transmission warranty is over.

I just came across this : http://www.aamco.com/main/aamco_warr...-lifetime.html
My transmission warranty will be out soon after 7 years ( i have a 99 model). I just called them 10 minutes ago and talk to 1 of the service guy at Aamco about fixing and replacing my transmission. My car is on the original tranny and still running smooth but i'm kinda scare when the warranty be over. So I asked him what will be the most cost in the worse case repair of my tranny. He called me back after checking and told me it shouldn't cost more than $1800~$2000. That will come with the 12Ms/12K miles. If i want a 36m/36k that will be %15 more of the actually repair. If i want a life time warranty on the transmission, it'll be %30 more with only $50 deductible. So what u guys think. I heard too many story about bring it to acura dealer and they still replace you a faulty transmission. And the cost around $6000....

So if u go with Aamco and get the tranny rebuild. Example it cost $2000 and with the lifetime war. the total will be $2,600. Heck, with $2600 and don't have to worry about the trans. problem , i'll go for it if i plan to keep this car. Because the TL will last a long time. And the only major problem we have is just the transmission. Have anyone here have any experience with Aamco so far? How's the service???

I'm bring my car to let them check on the transmission tomorrow. They're having a special for FREE diagnostis (normallly $39), so y not. If something wrong I'll have the papers and bring it to Acura and get the transmission fix before 100K...

you can get them to look at it, but there isnt anything they can say unless something is wrong. I mean if it drives fine, they will check the fluid and if its not burned bad, then there is nothing else to do.

Im surprised this hasnt been talked about more on this site - it has some but not much. I have a '99 also on the original transmission (97k miles) so I am interested in what you end up doing. I really think that if the transmission has lasted this long, it probably will last much longer with proper care, but only time will tell.

I rather be safe than sorry bro... Plus sometimes we can't detect the problem. I only have 2 more months to go and i'll take any chance I can to prevent the cost of fixing it in the future. I will find any single problem i can and get it fix by acura before the warranty run out..

wow thats cheaper than I thought. I believe they just rebuild your existing tranny, which is fine, especially for a 99 where it will last longer. I would take my chances with Aamco if my tranny fails(118K now and on original tranny).

Sometimes Acura will good will the repairs on the tranny since its such a common problem. IF it does act up, I would try that first before running to Aamco.

U sure about that? A lot of people here, Acura refuse to replace their tranny untill it really mess up and un-driveable... Plus Aamco diagnostic is free.. Y not?
