those with 6000k bulbs....
honestly...more or less light? I want to replace my stock osram bulbs with either philips 4300k ($180/pair)or philips 6000k ($325/pair). Of course everyone advertises more light with teh 6000k's, but independent sites say there is less. Less for bluer light seems to make sense, but I want some first hand knowledge. Thanks.
The higher the color temp (4200k, 6000k, etc) the less light is emitted. But the decrease in light intensity between the stock bulbs and the 6000k isn't really a concern.
Here in the city there are so many street lights that you could literally drive without headlights and still see fine. I did notice that when I had my stock bulbs I could see a little bit better than i can with the 6000k bulbs I have now!

What do you REALLY want? The stock HID will emit more whiter light therefore lighting up the road a little bit better. While the 6000k will have a bluish tint to it. But it still lights up the road pretty well. Your best bet is to try and get a comparison of the two in person and see which one you like better.
BTW, I have the 6000k and I love them!:wow:

thanks for all your advice
I assumed the difference in 6000k light to 43000k was minimal and still way better than halogens. I have copared my osrams to philips and the philips 4300k seem brighter and a bluer than the osrams. The only difference was the housings were xenon vs my halogens. I'm pretty sure the optics are the same...they are both projectos. I'll find out when I try a philips 4300k bulb tonight whether or not the philips are going to give more light. The osrams almost seem like halogen colored compared to the philips. I think the osrams are actually rated at a slightly lower temp than 4300k. So I am going to stick a friends philips bulb in one of my housings tonight to get a direct comparison to the osram. I actually have a freebie 4300k philips bulb...so all I really need is one...compared to 2 6000k's.
If you get the 6000k, get the d2s. You need to do a little modification to make it fit but the mod is so simple, you can teach a monkey to do it. D2S gives off a little more light than d2r. I have d2S in my car and do not notice any "drop" in lighting comparing to stock 4300k.
