Question Thinking of Buying TL-S

What's up Y'all!!!

I've been reading this board for the past couple weeks trying to decide if I want to drop 32k to get a TL type S. I had pretty much made up my mind until I started reading about all the quality issues and tranny problems. Then, I began to consider the Honda Accord EX V6. So, is it worth the extra 6 grand to get a TL type S as opposed to the Accord? Do y'all have any regrets about getting the TL-S? Thanks for the help.

I would say small number of people are having problems. Even the CL-S owners with over 30,000 miles arent having problems. I would say go get it!!

I have 10,300 miles now and have no problems.

you just jinxed yourself..

mawaru,
when I got my TL last year, I was in the same boat as you.. I was considering the V6Accoord as well..

the best thing you can do for yourself is to test drive both of them the same day to really get a good feel of one vs the other..

The 6K being worth more.. I say yes. There are probably 4 times as many accords out there than TL-S, you will get a car with more power, style, and comfort.

I wouldn't worry about the tranny issues if I were you, the more and more problems there are with them, the more likely that Acura will identify the problems and fix these before selling anymore to customers..

If you have any questions about the car or mods to do, don't hesitate to ask.. there are hundreds of members here willing to help..

The only regret I have with buying my car is that I didn't wait until the Type-S came out to get it and that I didn't get Navi..
so that's 2 things I guess..

i won't worry too much about the tanny. if you really look at the numbers it's still a very small fractions. there might be 10 or so members on the board with tranny problem, but you have to look at the overall percentage.

and of course i would choose the tls over accord. i trest drove both and i think the 6k is well worth it. try both and you will see. with the ex v6 top model i think it's still far from the feeling you get with the tls, espially there are way too many accords on the street now. the 02 tls has a little facelift and that makes our car stand out more.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick replies!!!

I think I'll take your advice and test drive both this Saturday. This is the first car I'm buying and just wanted to be sure I'm making the right decision before dropping so much money. I think I'll regret it if I don't get the TL-S and get the Accord V6 especially since I'll have my next car for a long while. Anyway, thanks for the help. This board is great!!! TL owners seem like a big family thanks to this board.

Well... it really depends on how lucky you are... my TL got tons of problems... and for those who think I am whining... you will know when you are in my shoe...

I personally will never buy another Acura because of the Service mainly...

If you gonna keep this car for a long time... then I think the TL-S is a better car to have in the long run... The accord V6 got problems with thier tranny, too BTW..

Amen; while it seems Acuras are 99% trouble free, that doesn't matter much when you are the 1% having major problems. I am hoping that I remain in the 99% category; I have 1000 miles on my TL-S and I LOVE this toy...

Deposit on TL-S

I did it this weekend!!! I ended up putting a deposit on a TL-S at everyones favorite dealer Park Ave Acura. I came in with an OTD price. They matched it, and I put my deposit down. Since I was unsure as to color, they ordered me both a Satin Silver Metallic and an Aegean Blue Pearl. They told me I can choose which one I want when they get here. Which one should I go with? Anyway, thanks for all the positive input.

Mawaru, light colors are generally easier to maintain than dark color. For example, on dark cars, you have to work to get the swirl marks as where light color cars you dont.

But the bottom line is go for what you like better.
The blue is hot though.

good luck...

Park Ave West

Wow! Park Ave ordered two cars for you to pick from?!?!?! I wish there was a Park Ave West here in Colorado.

I think the Aegean Blue Pearl is a very sharp color. However, keep in mind how long you intend to keep the car. Will the Aegean Blue looked dated in 5 - 10 years? Look at the other trendy colors on older cars and get take a gut check on how you feel about them.

Silver

I know that pretty much half the TL owners have silver, but I think I'll go with that color. As luck would have it, there was an Aegean Blue Pearl TL-S next to a Satin Silver Mettalic TL-S at the ferry parking on my commute to work yesterday. I looked at them for about a few seconds and realized silver is my color of choice. The blue was really nice to look at, but it didn't look like something I would own. On top of that I could see the blue car had a few scratches and the car was a little dirty. The blue must be pretty tough to maintain. Considering I don't have a spot in a garage and I'm lazy as hell, I think I'll get the silver. Thanks for the input guys.

BTW Park Ave was great. I felt like I was in one those Saturn commercials. The sales department was really no pressure at all. Although I didn't get the best deal out there, I feel good buying from them. A couple of other dealers were willing to beat the price by about 100 to 200, but I really hated the salesmen.
