I have to change the thermostat on 2000 TL. Has anyone done it? Any special tricks I need to know. I know its in the thermostat housing and I see 2 bolts holding it. Looks real tight around there, any tips guys

Spray wd or similar on bolts ahead of time
replace coolant with honda coolant or a brand thats 50/50 and says specifically- approved for acura
drain the engine block and the radiator for a full flush while doing the thermostat

Follow the owner book directions on burping the system- EXACTLY or there will be an air bubble.

Whats causing replacement of this one?

Engine has been overheating. I don't think its my thermostat because top and bottom hose are still hot. I figured, what the hell, might as well do it since car has 150,000 miles. I am going to replace radiator fan. Tried jumping the fan and didnt come on at all. Replaced coolant temp sensor.

if the thermostat is working there will be one hose hotter than the other, assuming radiator not block internally

You should be able to feel differant temps on the face of radiator too if its flowing thru
Can watch with rad cap off and see if there is flow
A dirty/plugged radiator will give both hoses hot as well

Assuming you had the 105 with new water pump on time, and 50 since then, its also time for coolant change

the driver side fan comes on with temp
passenger side is tied to the ac

"Jumping the fan"- applied 12v to it & it didn't come on? Why not replace it first & see if that's the problem?
