Themo reading!!!

Exclamation Themo reading!!!

Hey guyz I've a 2000 tl. The Thermo in the car is not readin the right temperature outside? Example if it's 70 degrees outside it will read it as 80 or so. Pls help... it's buggin me out.

Is this when the car is just started or after it has been running? It takes a bit of driving for it to read correctly. Some certain speed or something, can't remember.

Likely culprit is the oil reminder/temp adjuster button on the dash

If you turn the key on and press both trip and reset buttons together- the temp adjust display comes up and you can adjust up or down.
Usually I go to reset the oil minder and do it backwards of when the key should be on- resulting in temp change

Need to drive to get airflow and more accurate reading
Check outdoor temp gauge placed in shade- then drive and adjust
Best reading is to remove sensor under bumper and place in ice water- adjust to 32 degrees
