No problem, it was cool, we ran into some first time problems, but I came to the conclusion that it is too difficult to make and ship out. every grille would have to be made with the car available. since the hood closes right onto the mesh and rubber seal. but it was worth it to try. took me a few hours, and it got pretty chilly. but def had fun. gotta set up a meet with you dude during the spring. Later

Is the stock TL grill behind it? I think I see the A on the last picture. It'd be pretty sweet if you could light it up from behind.

The real bitch is cutting it, then trying to sandwich it between the trim and housing. Friggin drove me crazy, didn't want to turn 1phattl back empty handed. The shape of it is so awkward, it doesn't line up with the hood perfectly, I would need the car there to trim off the mesh little by little without over cutting, then cap it off with the rubber gasket.

Would you experience the same problem with the 3g TL? Also, are you still looking for a car to test fit on it?

I hear ya. I did the same thing a while back. I definitely don't want to do that ever again!!

Pic for the hell of it:

My grill got smashed recently, so I'm just going to paint the new one and leave it at that. No more mesh for me.

That looks cool but I think it will look better if you could mount an emblem in the middle of the grill to break up the open space. Regardless, you still did an awesome job!!

i never liked the mesh look on the 02-03, its just too big of an area, it looks odd.

maybe if you paint it black it will not stand out as much and look better.

it is very simple to do the mesh grille for 99-01, and the cost is about 15 bux with the mesh and all the paints at HomeDepot.

552G7L, im sure you can handle it.

Yes we do it for the 2001 TL. It actually looks better on the 1G CL, 2G CL, and 99-2001 TL since the grille openings are smaller and atatched to the hood. cjeck out our website and it is the same price as the 1Gen CL, just drop it right in place of the old grille. and this mesh is cut and prepared prefectly with no flaws, not really easy to get from Home depot, they use a flimsy wire type mesh. Also, the Grille housing is altered to allow the mesh to sit flush and clean.
