Thanks, another TL owner saying goodbye for a POS civic

well a 90 civic hatchback for now, purely for commuting and getting around.
i finally got a buyer and the tl should be sold by next week. it has been fun. if it wasnt for this site i woulda never done all the stuff to my car. haha i dont know if i should thank the site or damn the site for helping me spend tons of money.
hopfully something nice will be in store for the future, like an s4 or a used m5.
but for the next year, i wanna concentrate on buying my first house. uncle sam is killing me on taxes and its just not worth it without a big write-off.
take care guys, its been fun.

Its all about priorities, and when I was younger I always drove a used Accord, because of other financial obligations, mainly a mortgage. In about 10-15 years prhaps you can begin driving nice cars again You're only problem is that you have had a dose of the TL and now you know what you will be missing.

it will be wierd reading this board with no tl. it has become a ritual so i cant break it.
Eric, i am gonna take 5 months to clean up some debt and then it should be under control. I would like to find a 2 bdroom townhouse in the east bay as far south as union city. any further into Fremont and I cant afford it !!! hahaha...
i've had a taste of the tl ... and it does make the mouth water... all i hope for is i can stand driving the commuter car around. i know i will shed a tear when a tl owner drives by !!
my thing is i will always love cars, all i want is the house to make some equity and i will take a second out on it and buy a car
i figure i am already gonna owe for a mortgage for years to come whats another 40k on top of that ...

We've got plenty of people on here who don't own a TL. You don't have to leave just because you don't own one.

In any event. I wish you good luck in the future, TLTypeS!

Good for you Bro, get your house first and then the toys will come. I was driving my 89 Integra and my wife was driving her 95 Civic when we got our townhouse. Don't worry man, everything will come back in a flash.

I think it is really comendable that you are able to fully realize what you want and are able to take steps to obtain your desires. It will be a b!tch to not have your TL anymore and you will think of that everytime a TL goes by, but I think once you are in your new home those feelings won't be so bad.

It's great that you're getting your priorities straight. Your home will almost always appreciate (except where you are, for now), your car will ALWAYS depreciate. You'll be wealthier in the end with a piece of real estate, as long as you take care of it. Can't you get a used Accord though? About the same size at least?

Good luck!

This is a good time to buy in the bay area as the slow economy did a lot of people in & the housing prices are falling at least 10 percent in the below 500k range (even more in the upper range).

I almost got myself a TL-S for Xmas gift but decided to keep the TL for another year or two. Can't complain though, just a damn solid ride for the last two years.....

Stick around & keep this forum alive......

My first new car was a Civic after I got out of college and got a real job. I was living in the Bay Area at that time and wanted to save enough down payment for my first new home. A house in the Bay area is like part of your 401k, you made a great decision.
Good luck and have fun house hunting.

I just got back from 2 weeks of travel where I was driving rental cars. I had a camry for the first week and then a european vauxal (sp?). The vauxal was some type of right hand drive manual tranny GM. Actually pretty sporty feeling for a GM.

Anyway, last night I got back to the airport and got in my 97 civic to drive home. As I got on the freeway and got up to 75/80mph or so I was amazed at the vibrations and noise. I thought at first that I had a window open or something was wrong with the car! After a few seconds I realized that NVH was just the nature of the beast. Also, to be fair for the two weeks I never got up to this kind of speed (Honolulu and the UK). The trade off is the $$ per mile for my 50 mile commute. I saw somewhere that the civic is thought to give one of the best values per mile considering resale, mpg, insurance, repairs, etc...

You can't go wrong with a civic if you are trying to save money!

thanks for the support all ...
i think one of the biggest reasons is friggen uncle sam. i am single, non-home owner, and making decent money. i am taxed like crazy. well its something i feel like i should done even prior to the TL. But now, i feel its a must to endure for the nest year or so and just try to attain a goal. i admit i love the tl. maybe a tl-s can be in the plans for the future... i hope.
sam, man i wanna be like you.... tl, mdx, townhouse, married with a newborn... wait i wanna be like you tl, mdx, townhouse j/k

I would give up the TL for a house anyday. Having your own house is one the best things you'll ever have.
