On the Accord, I know it is a slightly rougher ride, but handles like a mofo on the turns though...Teins perform very well and are worth the money, but as far as comfort is concern..I don't know especially on the TL's(never seen one with the Teins, yet). But on my friend's accord that had the Teins they were slammed and rode rough, but not that bad though...so it is all on you guys..hope that helped some..

1. The ride is stiffer...but then again my dampers are adjusted stiffer. It's not terribly bad.

2. If you just lower it 1inch, the camber should be within spec. Even with the Comptech drop of 1.5/1.0 you're still in spec.

3. When my drop was slammed I had some rubbing, but that was partly because my stiffness was on max stiffness.

4. Nope.

Here is some food for thought...in Japan (according to Sports Car Compact), Tein has control of 60% of the market! Unfortunately the Teins they make for us is only the entry level Teins...SS Flex. It would have been better if we had the HA model. Also with the TL that runs the Teins, you can get a device called the EDFC which allows you to individually control EACH shock stiffness from within the cabin. This is extremely useful. Read this for more info http://www.tein.com/edfc.html

I've never actually rode in a car with the konis...can't say...but yes you can adjust to stock. Tein gives u the adjustment to return the car to stock height and ride quality. There is 16 points of adjustment for the damper from soft to stiff.

No you cant, unfortunately we dont have enough room in our cars to install the EDFC units above the shocks where they need to be.

To answer your questions

1. I cant really compare as I went from a year with the Comptech springs to the Teins. Compared to the Comptechs, I cant make the ride anywhere from nauseatingly soft and floaty like a Buick to stiffer than the Comptech Springs. I chose a nice medium thats not as stiff as the Comptechs were, and not as punishing with my 235-35 profile tires.

2. My drop is a tad more than the Comptech drop and my worst Camber is in the rear at -1.0 degrees. Im not even going with a kit, just proper tire rotation.

3. Nope stock or with my 19 x8 rims and a 47 offset even with the car loaded up.

4. No grinding or squeaking.

Well there was a groupbuy on them for $850 shipped. Unfortunately Tein is out of stock...more in near the end of this year. Just wait. The EDFC is running $380, but if there is enough interest...a groupbuy can be setup also.

Actually your wrong. If you go to www.tein.com, the EDFC is now redesigned to fit the 99+ TL with the Tein SS. The CL will not fit. I know this for sure because my friend, Blxmjx, the one who setup the groupbuy on the Teins test fitted the EDFC for the CL. This is something new that is out. The motor is smaller and thus will allow it fit. If your interested Mr Hyde, Blxmjx has one that was test fitted on the CL...he is definitely looking for someone to unload them too.

Basically you count...you set the stiffness to max (clockwise turn) and then count backwards to whatever stiffness level you like. Check out the pics below...You use the little tool supplied by Tein to crank it:

Interesting, I bought my Teins through Blxmjx also. Not sure if I would spring for the control unit just yet, maybe if I saw some pics and reviews first.

As of right now, I can adjust the front easy enough just by popping the hood, and I can adjust the rears through a tiny hole I put in the rear deck. Takes me all of 5 seconds. Thanx for the heads up on the redesign.

Yea Arnold (Blxmjx) didn't know of the redesign either...neither did I. Someone on this site mentioned it to me and I went there and informed Arnold and by the next day he was testing the EDFC on one of our friend's car (Bobwah). I'm thinking of getting the EDFC for the rear...but I think it might be a waste. How hard was it for you to drill the hole? Well now that I think of it, the CL's back piece is slightly different from the TL, you guys have just a center sub and we have two speakers so I will have to drill through them. Do you have any pics of it?

Didnt take any pics, but maybe I will and send it to you, its nothing major though, just a small tiny hole about 2-3 mm across that no one can really notice, but I guess the speakers may get in the way, Id have to compare with my friends CL-S

Tein's have a scale of adjustment from 1-16. If 1 is softest and 16 the firmest, where does the OE Types S road feel fit into that scale?

Mine were adjustable to over 22-25 clicks, I cant remember exactly. I couldnt do a back to back comparison to stock as I went from a year with the Comptech springs to the Teins. Compared to the Comptechs, I can make the ride anywhere from nauseatingly soft and floaty like a Buick to stiffer than the Comptech Springs. I chose a nice medium thats not as stiff as the Comptechs were, and not as punishing with my 235-35/19 profile tires. I think that at the softest setting when I had my 17's on the car was actually softer and bouncier than it was stock. Right now I am set at 14 clicks all around out of the 22-25 with my 19's on and the ride is better than it was with the C-techs.

Mine goes to 25 clicks too, but you know that your not supposed to go over 16 clicks from the hardest right? Even though they go more than 16, DO NOT go past it. The manual even says so.

From hardest I guess I am at 11 clicks right now which is 14 clicks from softest. I had it set to softest for the break in which is what my shop recommended for the first few days. Those guys forgot to give me the manual after the install. Is there anything else like that in there I should know about?

Thank you very much for your input. I just received my Tein's and plan to have them installed in the next day or two. I do have one more question for you. How did you gauge where to drill the holes in your rear deck? I think that is a slick way having a quick setting change without buying the EDFC.
Let me know,
Thanks DT

Actually I've checked it out a few times. Because the desgin in the rear, the Tein angles slightly meaning i would have to have a semi-diaginoal cut so it does somewhat interfere with drilling through the plastic cover of the speaker...but no problems with the speaker what so ever...just the casing.

After the install, I left the rear seat out of the car for a few days till I broke them in and then dialed in a setting I liked. So if you take out rear seat you can easily see the top of the shock, and work from there. I think if you pull the rear seat forward and try to stick your finger under the trim, you may be able to fell the top of the coilover. I just drilled a hold directly on top. As Peiqinglong said, they are installed on an angle, but I havent found that to be a problem using a small flathead screwdriver which fits perfectly in the notch, it slides in far enough that it doesnt matter.

I just slide in the screwdriver, fell around for the shock, feel my way to the top, and it just pops right in. Did it yesterday and changed all 4 in less than 2 minutes.
