Tein vs. Eibach???

Hey all,

I have researched this topic on this forum and I need you all help to decide on what to do.

1. Eibach and new springs will probably cost me around $700-800.

2. Tein is about $925+installed.

There is probably a $400 diff b/t the two. Will Tein give me a softer ride? How easy is it to adjust the height w/ the Tein? Is the price diff worth it to you all?

thx

i would definitely go with the tein. for the extra $400, u can get a set of coilovers with 16 ways adjustable. i recently read a magazine compared several top brands of coilovers. the review shows that tein is one of the best & worth the price. btw, some people claim that tein has rust problem & needs to clean those dust & mug for a period of time so as to have a longer the life. besides, tein has a new model called type flex with rust prevention & an electronic adjustable kit (which means u can adjust the height & stiffness inside the car). however, i emailed tein usa & got the reply that they have no idea on when or whether it will have one that fits our car. i personally looking for coilover (not in a hurry though) & i would love to wait for a while to see if they will make one for our car.

Contrarian here. I have the Eibach ProKit w/ Tokico Illuminas. I am real happy with the ride quality. I think your quote includes the shocks, correct? BTW, you will need the camber adjustment pieces.

It is very easy to adjust. All you need to do is jack the car up to have access to the locking and adjustment bolt. Just remember when/if you get them installed, mark the strut and the adjustment bolt. I put a red dot on the green strut and a red dot on the adjustment bolt so I could count how many times I turned it. This way it is a lot easier to make sure your car has an even drop. So if I ever decide to lower/raise the car I can remember how many turns it took me.

I called Les Schwab today and they told me the eibach w/ camber kits will be $900 installed. That does not include the new shocks. Do u think it is too spendy? Would I really need a camber kit w/ the prokits?

thx all

I think you should get the tein's. There's a group buy for them on the A-CL boards. Its going for $850 + S&H. Spend a little more if you think you will need the adjustability.

Not sure who Les Schawb is but it is too much. Prokits were installed for $650 including springs, camber adjusting, alignment, tax, ect. You will definately need the camber kit and an alignment a couple weeks or so after install. Personally, I don't see the need for 16 possible settings. Not knocking it but just seems too much. The Tokico's I have are 5 way adjustable. Of course, not for height just stiffness.

Well, I have another way of lowering your ride. I am moving today and my trunk is full of stuff! Real cheap too! At least it is a great test for my fender trimming... no rubbing at all.

I went to Wheel Warehouse in Anaheim, CA. I don't think it's a chain. Any reputable wheel/suspension shop sould do fine.. I guess you just got to get some quotes.

Oh, and it is "TopGum." I'm a dentist, not a fighter pilot

The group buy on the CL-S Teins -- those fit our TLS's? Are there different types of Teins for the CLS and the TLS?

Funny how I once thought I would do my mods in a certain order, and now the very next thing I want to do is work on the suspension.

as the price for the tein's ss coilover seems going lower & lower, it's a good sign that the type flex will be available for our tls soon (hope so).

just my $.02

suspension. [/B]
Yes, they will fit the TL's too. The tein's are actually meant for the 98-up Accord's.
