Tail Light Relay Question
does anyone have a any idea where the tail light relay is located. my tail light is out, keeps poping the fuse. I had it checked out, the service dept. told me that the relay was bad, but they have no idea where it is. The manager told me being that its the first time they have ever seen this problem it might take some time and i will be charged a whole lot more that if they already knew what they were doing. Gotta love the PROS at Acura service.

My guess is it's the box that's attached to the left (I think) taillight. If you take out one of the tailights you will notice one has a square box attached to it. I think that's what you're looking for.

Nope, thats not it, its somewhere in the front of the car. they said it might be under the dash on the passangers side but when they looked there was no relays there. the box in the back by the tail light is for a trailer hitch attachment. im sure i will never see a TL with a trailer but u never know.

Call Acura at 1800 9HONDA9 and ask them. They have to know. I think it is 1800 not 1888 or 1866 or whatever. I am pretty sure 1800 is Honda. I actuall reached a honda mechanic when I called one of the other prefixes (I guess Honda hos most of these toll free numbers).

Let me get this straight. Acura service department did not know where the relay is???
Call Acura and genly inqiure about that dealership, making sure to ask how is it that ACURA TRAINED techs with access to Acura documentation have to LOOK for something on your car while you are being charged for it.

ok, well i found the relay. it was bad, i changed it and still the same problem. I got the location by going to Acura dealers and asking for the full manual. it was behind the ECU on the passengers' kick pannel. I also made copies of the entire lighting system. there are 2 wires at the output of the relay. i cut one just to see what would happen. only the right park lamp came on, then with the wire cut i supplied the left side park lamp, that worked so did all of the interior lights, all but the instrumet pannel. i do have a few bad lamps in the pannel like the clock and the climate control so i am now going to remove those to see if that could be the problem. i have been on this car fron 11AM to 9PM, and i figure in a few hours I should be done.

so i finally solved the short in the lighting system, it was a bad connector in the wiring harness. so i just isolated it wired around it and now everything is working fine. i also installed a remote start and also an engine kill relay since i already had most of the dash out. for all those who offered help, THANK YOU. i just have to wait 1 week to get the blubs that was blown out so i can replace it. I took the car back to the dealer while most of the dash was out so i can show them the problem, their responce was we would have charged you about $500.00 easily to do all of that.
