Question Tail light

the day after installing the inspire tails, one of my brake lights went out. I doubt this is coincidence. Is there something i may have done wrong? are these the bulbs that if you touch, they go out because of the oils on your fingertips? Of do you think I messed the wiring up or something? anybody have any ideas? thanks

did you shake the bulbs? they have a filament inside, and they are sensitive to shock or vibration. the wire breaks easily, perfectly normal. how many bulbs go in the type s brake lights, 3 or 4 bulbs?

Did you touch the bulb with your fingers? They are halogen bulbs. The oils that your skin gives off kills the bulb. I had the same problem..Re-installed a new set while holding the bulbs with napkins and no problems..

I installed mine today, didn't touch the bulbs. all the bulbs work but I didn't drive anywhere. We'll see what happens. I have another set on (back)order now and I used the stock ones for now with stock '00 harness also on (back)order.

I believed you can touch the tail lights. One of the light bulb blew out and I took it out and replaced it with a new one. I touched it and nothing happened. I think I have that special touch.

But what about us with manly hands j/k

I didn't want to test touching it, it's pretty easy to avoid doing it.

ummm, the bulbs you guys are talkin bout can be touched, its only halogens, or hid(your headlights maybe) that you cant touch, these bulbs are not halogen buddies. and they dont die out quicker or something, these are the same types of bulbs you use to light your room up with(dont tell me you guys never touched the normal bulbs )!
ed? halogen, lol!

I don't think the tail light bulbs are halogens. It doesn't even say that in the manual. The high beams are halogens though. It does mention in the manual not to touch the glass part of the high beam bulbs.

BTW, I installed the '02 tails. It's beeeeautiful!! Of course I got it thru Snook. Thanks, Snook!

My left tail lights both went out within a week of each other... I popped them out and re-seated them and they both worked - for about another two weeks, then both died again. (Hrmph.) Walmart carried both tail lights, so I replaced them. I was thinking the same thing (finger oil might destroy them?) and installed them with a dry, clean rag... they've been stable for a couple of months. But that could have nothing to do with the dry rag. ;-)
