Post SWAY BARS questions!! neuspeed vs. comptech

I know I can get the rear one only from Neuspead so I was wondering if anyone knew that Neuspeed rear sway is as thick as the comptech rear? Does anyone know the thickness of both?

After hearing everyone saying the sweet the sways are, I MUST get it!

During the seattle meet I heard Weapon-R intake and it sounded mean from like 100 yards away. Extremely loud and mean! I am thinking to of getting AEM short ram now. I like that mean sound!!

The sway bars for 98 and up V6 Accords will fit 99 and up TLs and the new CLs.

The 3.2 TL uses the same bars as 98> Accord and the CL-S.

Comptech bars are 1-1/16" tubular front and 7/8" solid rear. They were designed and are sold only as a matched set.

thanks for answering, Mike! really appreciate your help. And by the way I love my comptech springs.. they are plain awesome. I can't even tell if they are any stiffer than the stock ones...

hey mike, so is the front bar the same one as the stock bar? I took off the stock bar and put on the front comptech bar and it looked exactly the same.

all right, i just found out that Neuspeed's rear sway bar is only 3/4" rather than comptech's 7/8". It's thinner but i guess that would be all right.. does anyone know the thickness of the rear stock?

I think the external diameter of the front bar is the same but the thickness of the walls are more than the stock front bar's thickness...

What sucks however is the length of time for which I hear they have been "off the market"....neuspeed would gain a lot of sales I guess in the meantime...

The stock rear bar is of 18mm diameter(solid) while the stock CL-S bar is of 19mm diameter(solid)...the comptech rears are of 22mm diameter(solid)...

I should of asked this question here, instead of the springs springs post...
I have a quick question for those with Comptech sway bars, both front and rear.
I know by changing the sways from the OEM to Comptech will affect the ride and steering. But does it change the characteristic of the TL. What I mean is how much of a difference is it compared to OEM and does it feel like a totally different car because of the change?
Thanks...

From what I gathered, the OEM (Factory) specs vs the Comptech sway bars are as follows:

OEM front: 27.2mm tubular with 4.5 mm wall thickness

Comptech front: 27.2mm tubular but with a higher wall thickness (not sure of the #).

OEM rear: 18mm solid (TL)
19mm solid (CL-s)

Comptech rear: 22mm solid

Basically, the comptech front bars are 68% stiffer than the stock TL bars and the rear bars are 131% stiffer than the stock OEM TL bars.

Here is a better question: which one is better, eibach sways, comptech sways, neuspeed sways? I am lost for the question. I know that the Eibachs have a larger diameter than the other two but i am not sure if they have a solid core. Also if they suck, i guess i am out of luck because i already ordered them... :P

If you want thicker bars...there is nothing thicker than the Neuspeed Race set.

OEM TLP = H27/S18
OEM TLS = H27/S19

Comptech = H27/S22

Eibach = ?27/S23

Neuspeed Race = S27/S25
Neuspeed Regular = S27/S19

*H = Hollow (tubular)
*S = Solid

DO NOT BUY Neuspeed Regular. At this point in time they no longer sell the "race" set...so my next choice would be Eibach.

Are u just referring to the Neuspeed rear bar or both front and rear? I think u mean just the rear. I agree that the rear seems the same as the stock one - weighs the same. The front bar is much better than stock and it was my first choice of all the sways on the market.

I wish they still made the "race" rear sway. I called them a couple weeks ago and they said it is discontinued.

True...but then what are you going to do for the rear? You can't buy the Comptech & Eibach rear bar seperately...so I always suggest the Eibach combination from now on.

BTW...I have the Neuspeed bars listed front & 25mm rear. And frankly...I wouldn't recommend the 25mm rear for the daily driver. I've broken 3 brackets & 2 endlink rods within 3 years of ownership. (It happens with Comptech's too..but not nearly as likely)

Oh yes, definitely.

Thicker or stiffer front sway and stock rear will increase understeer. We don't want this setup because our TL's have plenty of understeer already.

Stock front sway and thicker or stiffer rear will increase oversteer. This is what we want in order to make our TL's more neutral handling.

Both thicker or stiffer front and rear sways will reduce body roll considerably, and the comparative stiffness of the front vs rear sways will affect the understeer/oversteer handling characteristic of the car.
