Suspension Problem..need help

not sure if this is the right thread, but anywayz,

I was drivin to work this morning and i kept hearing a squeaking sound coming from my front driver shock(tein basics) whenever the car shakes from a pothole or something. then all of a sudden it gets woarst. It starts to rattle hard like the the suspension is gonna fallout or something. anywayz i go to check it and the strut is raised up like its about to hit the hood. any ideas of what happen, i think the strut mount is broken. I drove to work, with the hood not locked incase it raises up too high, i just hope i can make it home.. here some pics.

There you go then- dont drive it that way is my suggestion

Did you recently encounter any potholes or other bad things?

After removing the tire the damage should be staring at you
No telling for sure until then whats brken where, but I would expect to remove the entire strut/spring and if the top mount of it is broken, tear down and new tophat

Did you reuse the factory tophats with the tiens or did they come with their own?

I wouldnt drive it. At all. It will cause more damage and possibly come thru your hood

if the tophats is that black peice that closes the coilover and has those 3 bolts in it that goes into the body of the car.. then yes I did?? I parked the car, on the way home i noticed it got alot higher like its touchin the hood now..

When i installed my coilovers the first time I had a similar if not the same situation.

I would suggest taking the whole coilover on that side out and see if there is any damages. When this happened to me it was because I for got to put in one of the washers, but you said you had these for a year and I assume that this is not the case.

Regardless, I think you should take it out and see if there is what is wrong

Edit: dang you beat me to it

maybe the top hat just gave out....i dont see how but regardless of what it was you STILL have to take the coilover out of the car to get to this hat so...get to it you can't drive it anyways. peace

this washer holds the strut pole down. it broke and the pole was just sliding between it.. i took off the whole coilover and the top off and saw it... i bought a bushing kit for 7bucks and it came with washers n so on. so i just changed that washer..
