Many of us are 6spd swapped. Personally, the 6spd tranny changes the car entirely.

Yeah, I was going back and forth between getting a newer auto trans and doing 6spd...but I also thought I had about 1000 more miles, not less than 250 miles.

Didn't have the money or time to get 6spd parts

If this one goes out (hopefully not since it's a 07 AV6 trans), I'm doing a 6spd conversion....no questions asked.

just curious, what do you mean when it changed the car entirely? (besides the obvious that its a manual trans) which do you like better in this car, auto or manual?

take that freshened trans from warranty and enjoy!

make no more mention of swap... or acura will find out and decide to screw you--

as if you (not you you---generic them you) might take the fresh trans out and resell- for about what a 6speed cost
Its happened to them before

Oops, yeah, I misread. If you're going to get it replaced for free, just ride that out.

In the future (past the 3 year warranty, perhaps) then I'd prepare for a 6spd swap.

Changes it for the better. My ONLY regret about doing it was that i didnt do it years sooner.

ARGHH! I wish there was someone who has already done a CL6 swap to a TL in AZ. I don't mind paying whatever the cost, but I don't think I could do it myself.

Did any of you guys just ask around at different shops to see if they would do it? I asked at some Honda/Acura shops, and they just said that they don't do "that kind of stuff."

Do you think someone with no experience (me) could tackle it for a summer project? Again, money would be no object.

its really not that hard. You wont know if you can do it until you try.

can you change a front axle, use a dremel, and own a big hammer??
then you too can have a conversion!!!

Its not worth it to shops, customers dont want to pay 100-125 dollars an hour!!
for several hours to remove- customize wiring, slide in motor and trans and finalize electrical bits...there are always bugs to work out...

Way easier to install a fresh motor or trans of the same type!! stay with what they know

well, yea, im gonna let warranty fix it this time, but if this happens again, im going to swap it out. i work for a toyota dealer, the owner also owns the acura dealer so my labour rate is $35 an hr and i already spoke to one of their mechanics about doing the swap for me and he is willing to do it ...
if this does happen again, im contemplating on selling the car and buying a 4runner becuase i have a bike for my summer toy, just need something good and reliable to get me around in the crazy winters we have in this city. yesterday i was out riding my motorcycle and all of a sudden it started snowing like crazy! luckily i wasnt too far from home.

I was in same boat about year ago when my tranny went out. So i went ahead an did the swap an i wish i did it sooner like every one else. ( was on 3 tranny) My opinion is, if you have a lift or cherry picker you can do this. Everything is straight bolt. At 1st i was over thinking it an when i finally started was like that it...

The hardest part to be was waiting for parts to finish the swap

it seems that as this has become a more popular mod- there are also kits = wiring harness changes available to make it easier

when you are young and have a good back -enjoy that 6speed fun!!
then later in life when you need the automatic, you wont resent it

the wiring is the only thing scaring me on the 6mt swap. id rather stay auto than pay 700 for the richie harness. and finding a complete totalled CL 6mt is pretty close to winning the lottery

my 79 year old grandfather still drives a 4 spd manual.

manual labor throws your back out, not manual transmissions

You save money & time by using the rv6harness and it's really easy to solder in.

Like Rejckt said. You save money buying the Richie modules. It makes things much simpler. The wiring part shouldnt be the thing holding you back.
