Suicide Trunk - looks insane! - Where is it available?
have posted this in the Acura TL forum but I would like everybody's opinion.
Basically, I have seen a suicide trunk installed in a Mazda an it looked absolutely amasing. I haven't seen an aftermarket kit for this has anyone else?
Is this only available for the Mazda?
Has anyone else seen this application in use?
What do yo think was used on the mazda? was it a custom job?
I saw it on a TV show yesterday and I will try to get the info from the show.

I actually bought one of the kits that you see on eBay and it was the biggest piece of sh|t you could get. It was basically a bracket and hinge from Home Depot.
I have checked around and have not been able to find a good kit to do this. Most of the good jobs I have seen have all been custom jobs and can get pretty pricey.....

Once a Grand or Two is spent on my stereo, plus springs, rims, tires, and exhaust are installed I don't plan to use my car for a trip over to Home Depot to grab 2 x 4's. Once a box and a couple of amps are in the trunk the space is practically useless anyway. What is the back seat for, there's your grocery storage.

Bah, I need the ski hole for this Winter. Plus, I'm already bitter about not being able to fold down the rear seats. Anyone know of a conversion that will allow that?

Yaron2, good call! I totally agree there. Our trunks have been designed to drain whatever water is on the trunk lid when opened down onto the rear window and then it properly drains the water out of the car. With this silly mod you might end up with water in your trunk. ..at least it seems obvious that this would happen in the case of the civic picture posted earlier in this thread.

Actually that's wrong. The trunk still functions 100% as normal. If you want it to bend like in the picture I posted, then you release a latch which allows it to bend like that... otherwise you'd never know the trunk was modified, which means that water would still drain like normal since the trunk still opens like normal. And I don't know about you guys... but I would never unlatch the trunk like that when it's raining. It's for show purposes.... and I don't go to shows unless it's nice out..... so there's absolutely no worries at all about any water leaking any more then there would be now..... You should look into the way the trunk mod actually works before jumping to conclusions.
