Suggestions -> extra $1404 for car

Hey duds, i worked hard for the past couple of months and i managed to meet all my needs (girl gas and food) with a residual $1404. Im on a stockperformance '99 NAV...i've invested enough in looks now i want some extra power. Oh, no exhaust yet, i wanna be discrete.

I was thinking, OBX stainless steel headers, Injen 2pc CAI, V-AFC (not sure about thisone, i prob dont know what it does-> help) and maibe pullies...im trying to find the most HP per Washington. Im hoping to seriously decrease my 0-60 and 1/4mi times. (not that i have any yet)

Lets see what you got!!

===========
'99 @ 68kmi
Nav Sys
WW kit
OEM spoiler
Unique Mesh grille
Painted calipers/engine cover
(de)Chromed shiftplate
finally got parental consent!!!

Well, headers is a must. Go with used Comptechs if you can spend the extra dough. Otherwise, OBX is fine too. The second will leave you with more money to spend on a CAI / Icebox. Crap, even after buying those two, you'll still have more money! I don't know much about pullies other than they are not good for your car in the long run. Perhaps someone more knowledgable can provide an opinion. I do know that you'll get a decent noticeable HP bump with the pullies though.

But damn, man, how did you save up $1404 with all these expenses?
1. Gas (ouch, and our cars use premium too )
2. Girl (man, I gotta hand it to you there, nice work on hiding the chedder)
3. Food (i guess you're not a fatass )

To me I'd touch the handling before the get-up and go... otherwise it could get scarying with all the increased HP in the corners.

i would suggest obx headers(maybe get the welding re-done) , aem cai, and ct exhaust. and save later for the ct b-pipe.

if you can afford comptech. thats the prefered choice, but if cost is the issue. you dont have too many options. if the exhaust is too loud, the nice with with ct is it has the option quit inserts you can add to limit the amount of sound.

I agree... Get some springs and possibly sways and then boost the HP...

I'd put cross drilled / slotted rotors & performance pads on it first. 2nd, I'd put sways. 3rd. I'd put drop springs. If you have any $$$ left I'd put a CAI on it followed by headers. That should more than wipe out your 1400.

Happy Modding!!!

thats awesome but i think the TL handles good enough at high speeds and cornering at good speeds...i just want a way to really boost my HP...i need to know a way raise a good 50+HP with $1400.
a mod i found overnight to think about is the bbk throttle body...can someone explain what the V-AFC is good for?

*my goal is to match a type S 0-60 time with my 4speed '99 by august. Oh, i should have another $410 by this friday too.

peace.

1400 wont put u newhere close to 50 HP, unless u put ur baby on the bottle.... get stone headers and a 50 shot of NOS and u should still be nicely under budget

Though I'm a V1 lover, I'd spring for the Passport 8500 and its optional $500 ZR3 Laser shifter.

My advice would be to sell the '99 and take that money plus your $1800 and go buy a '02 Type S.

Other option, be happy with your car as is and bank your money.

i dont think i could find a type S with my car and another 1800...it would have to be my car (with the few mods around $2k) plus another 5000 for a high mileaged type S...

This is what im deciding to buy this weekend: OBX stainless steel, InJen 2pc CAI, throttle body and VAFC (i made new thread and tells all about it...good item!) What do you guys think?

Oh, i also looked around last night and decided to get irodium spark plugs and a MSD unit to make the spark even bigger. that should eat up my 1400 and then ill save up the other 400 just because i feel bad killing 1400 in a summer's modding HEAT WAVE!!
