Hey all,

I just bought my new TLS in Black pearl and I was wondering what other members are tinting their windows, I was thinking of 35% all around, but not sure if that's going to be "private" enough. OH yeah btw my interior is Ivory or whatever they call it. So can anyone post pics of what they have done??

By the way, the legal limit is 50% front, 35% rear, 35% rear windshield ... Just so you know. 35% or 38% all around is still technically illegal.

 

I've got 33% on the sides and 20% on the rear windshield and I think it looks pretty good

Thanks for the info, but I already knew what the VA legal limit is, cuz my HS buddies are FCPOers. But I think I'll probably end up going with 35% all around, cuz the windows are quite large and with the sunroof open it will let more light in, so I should be just fine, sides I have on my other car 20% and it's just 2 dark so I think I'll keep it safe and tint it 35% myself. But thanks again.

 

I have 20% tints all around. Dark enough for privacy but light enough to see thru at night.

 

I have a 2003 TL Nighthawk Black as well. I did 35% all the way around and it looks really good. Dark enough for privacy and light enough; so that you can see where you are going at night. I like....... sorry no pics (someday I will own a digital camera).

I just got mine done. I got 35 in the front(the legal limit in Texas) and 20 in the rear and the back windshield. I tlook phat and you can barley tell the difference between the two shades.

 

go with ur state limit.
that way you wont have a problem with the law.

 

I'f you're worried about the law, then go with the 35%....if not, then I suggest at least 20% all around. That's what I got on my car and it looks prety damn sharp.
I have the dark interior and the tint guy put up a 35 and a 30% sheet on my window and it was pretty light. I thought 20% was perfect, but 15% is totally blacked out.

 

Yeah, I got a Black TLS with Black interior and I was thinking of going with 20% but everyone suggested against it unless I wanted some trouble with the cops in NYC so I just stuck with 35%. It is fine from a little distance during the day so its not bad. Better than having to be pulled over and pay a ticket you know?

Bro, you have light colored interior so any tint you apply will appear ligher during the day. If you want private.....put your sack on the table and go with 5% all the way around along with strong front strip. No one can see you and you can see them!

 

I have 5% all the way around. Had it on all of my cars. Also had lots of tickets. Interestingly enough i was pulled over last night at 2:15 am. the bar closed at 2am. I had to blow into the straw. somehow managed to pass. The only reason he pulled me over was my tint. He gave me a warning to take the tint off the drivers and passengers doors within 15 days or get a fine. I dont want to take the tint off but i am starting to consider it . I cant afford a dui for having tinted windows

Thanks for all the suggestion, I just got my TINT done 2 days ago and I went with 20% all around, and it's pretty good, Not too dark at all, I'm VERY happy with the Result.

 

Cool, post pics if you can! Will be interested to find out if you get hasseled by law enforcement or not with the 20% ... I went 35% all around just because I was paranoid about it. I've passed dozens of cops and never had a problem with the 35% all around tho.

 

I too had thoughts of being bugged by cops, but after I saw your car with 35% all around, I knew that I had to go darker. As for the FX cop thing, I'm not worried about it to much, cuz I have had cops sit right next to me at a light and didn't even turn over to look at my car, so I think I'm safe for now.

 

you won't regret 20%, i've paid my share of tint tickets already but it is worth it. I even did the rear window 5% to give the back a darker look. Good luck with your tints!
