sudden loss of power
sudden loss of power
Not that i kill my car or anything but when i was driving fast and the car shifted from 3 to 4 it felt as if it lost power all of a sudden, never noticed it before, and like i said in my other post D5 was dimming as if the battery had no more juice,i think it might have to do with the alternator, anyone with me on this one?
It's the gearing. 4th and 5th are geared for fuel efficiency, not performance.
My D5 dims, too. It is the alternator/battery, but it's just a small surge. If your alternator gave in and you had no power, you would know because you lose all control.

if you dont use SS to shift from 3rd to 4th, the tranny will shift early..
my tranny shifts at 160kph or so in full auto, when i use ss i can shift at around 180kph... that's a 20kph difference..the rpm difference is kinda big and that's what cause the "sudden power loss". when i use ss i can rev the car much higher so when it shifts into 4th the rpm is higher so the engine puts out more power..
so i suggest you shift just before you hit the rev limiter (about 6600rpm on my 1999 TL)
try playin' with SS, but watch out for the cops
