Stupid human tricks

just wanted to post this, in case some of you decide to race on the highway in unfamiliar areas during the evening rush hour. But seeing as everyone here made the intelligent choice to get a TLS, I see that we won't have an issue . But just in case...

For all you bay area folks, I was driving on 680 S/B nearing the merge with the 24. It's around 5:15, so traffic is bad. But if any of you have driven past the 24 on 680 South, you'll remember that traffic is light right up until the 24 overpass. Then traffic seriously slows to a 2mph crawl. That's how it was tonight.

I was driving at about 75 in the far left lane when I noticed a car tailgating me. So naturally, I decided to merge over to the right and let the guy go. At the same time I'm merging, he merges too. I have no idea why he decides to do this. So he's behind me again, and we're now about half a mile from the 24/680 merge. I guess I wasn't going fast enough for him, because he swerves to the right again. He pulls up next to me and it's at this point that I see it's a rice rocket with this huge spoiler. I assumed he was just going to pull forward, but to my disbelief, he begins to weave left and right. Several times he nearly hits my car. Now someone please tell me, is that some sort of sign to race?

Anyhow, we're now about 600 feet from the 680/24 merge, so I get off the gas. To my surprise, he accelerates. This is odd as you can see that the cars under the 24 overpass have stopped. As he passes me, I get a good look at his face...he's looking back at me...back at me? "You sure you don't want to turn around?", I think. I'm sure he's doing about 85 at this point, but he doesn't slow. Until, of course, he must have turned his head back around and saw the impending doom. At which point I saw the smoke from his tires and blazing...red and blue(?)...brake lights.

I guess he was too close and knew he couldn't stop in time, so he swerves hard to the right onto and offramp. Bay Area folks, this is the Olympic off-ramp into Walnut Creek. The off-ramp is circular and curves to the left at a pretty good rate. going about 65 mph, the guy couldn't hold the curve. Going 2 mph, I and the folks around me had a good look at what happened next. The right front of his car slammed into the far divider on the offramp. He was going so fast that his front wheel must have caught the divider, because the front of his car jumped on top of it. The last we saw was his car coming off the divider and disappearing below the freeway.

So, moral of this story is...don't race on unfamiliar highways during peak rush hours

Hope he didn't get hurt!!!!

Yea, well...I don't think he injured anything but his pride. And I think the last thought going through his mind, other than "OMFG I'm going to die!!!", was "Hell yea, I just killed a debadged Acura w/ 20% tinted windows!!!".

So it's not a signal to race then. Lol. And yea, I usually try not to be a rubberneck when it comes to accidents, but this one was just too spectacular.

The MR2 video is freaking hilarious...good control on your part. Shouldn't try to race in traffic...that's just plain dumb.

LOL.. that's a GREAT story!! I don't feel bad for him at all... he got what he deserved. And the best part is that he didn't take anyone else out with him... just his own little accident. Good story!! hahahaha

With all the construction around here, and hoods/spoilers galore at every freakin' Pep Boys, I wish all of these 16 year olds would find similar fates. They all want to race 24/7 no matter what the environment around them is like...Anyone as tired as me killing Civics, Neons and Pontiacs?

I couldn't tell how old this guy was. All I saw was that he had a shaved head and shades on. So maybe he was 16, I mean, unless an adult thinks it's cool to wear sunglasses in the evening.

It is not correct to put Civics, Neons, and Pontiacs together. Civic and Neon are care names. Pontiac is a name of a brand.

And there are some Pontiacs out there that could whoop you, like the Grand Prix GTP.

Um, maybe I'm missing something but I was thinking only a V8 Firebird is gonna wax a TL-S, and certainly, they don't tend to come rev'ing next to me like those overbodied Sunfires, Grand-Ams and yes, the Gran Prix...

Grand Prix GTP makes 240HP and 280lbs*ft torque, pretty flat torque curve. That's plenty to take on a TL-S.

And for just $100 one can install a smaller supercharger pulley that will push HP closer to 300.

Make sure you can tell the difference between Grand Am and Grand Prix. Also make sure to be able to spot the GTP badge on the Grand Prix. When you positively identify one, prepare to not be able to win.

OK, can someone explain to me what the hell happened here? The ground wasn't wet, no oil slick, and the guy just makes a left turn into the grassy knoll? Bad traction?

Torque steer? Its a RWD! He was supposedly trying to do a powerslide, but the rear end got grip and sent him flying. He was NEVER suppose to have grip during the entire run.

Yeah, but most good drivers can steer out of it if they lose control. Losing control definitely includes heading for grass hill with lots of other cars parked on the other side

Where's the other 10 minutes of the clip where someone wraps the rear skirt off that Jetta around his neck?

He did...The MR2 just rev'd and dumped the clutch and freakin' lost it, jumped a curb and slammed a couple of cars all lined up...They were all really pretty sweet and not a bunch of beaters either...Well, except the guys that got hit as the were likely "beating" him down afterward...
