Angry stuck with the RSX for another week!!

I thought four days was bad enough, but nooooo... now I am stuck with it until next friday it looks!!!

Ugghhh. I brought my baby in to have the rear passenger panel repainted because a paint defect was found. On the list of other things to fix I added the scuff marks left by the splash guards. Yes I fell victim to the almighty splash guard gash :yack:

They say they have yet to get a determination on who will pay for the splash guard damage. I flat out refused the option of me paying for it. It was an Acura OEM part which caused the damage, and they should pay for it!!

How did anyone else fair with the dreaded splash guard gashes? Did you get third party body shop to repair and pay the tab?

Oh and this isn't just a scuff mark, this is down to the metal.

Be warned, get those splash guards off now! I don't care if you will never get a body kit. Gashes down to the metal will rust through in a matter of time!!

Definitely not cool Acura!

Yup, the mud flap black plastic thingies scratched the fenders.

I took a quick pic, not the best quality, but you can see it:

Sad isn't it? I took delivery on 9/19/01, so it didn't take long. I guess the splash guards weren't designed to take daily vibrations, can we say quality assurance acura

hehe, microsoft paint to the rescue... I don't have photoshop handy on this machine so excuse the quality. I circled part of it in red. Imagine where your splash guard is mounted. Trace the line where it meets the fender, now take off the splash guard and that traced line is where it scratched the fender, from top to bottom. Near the bottom on mine it is down to the metal.

Thanks for the manification, I see what you mean now. My first TLS had mud guards but my second one has the body kit instead, thank God.

What type of paint defect was it? Are they painting a entire panel or are they going paint just part of it and try to blend it in? I might have the same thing done because I found some bubbles and I'm not sure if it's from the factory or dealership... gotta call the dealership about it.

It was a bubble in the paint, possibly because of air or dust. They are going to repaint the entire panel. Which is good because this is the same panel they touched up two scratches they put it while installing my back seat, and the touchup paint did not match at all, looks almost white.

If you found bubbles in the paint it is most likely from the factory, since that's where it is painted, not at the dealership good luck!

Copland,

I got my car in october and took the mudflaps off last month sometime. Fortunately, i didnt have any scratches. I could see some "dull" areas of the paint but was able to buff those out. Man, i guess I got off lucky.

Hopefully it's from the factory, but the trunk is mis-aligned, so something might have happened to it while it was at the dealership.

I'm taking off my splash guards right now! I've seen too many of those gash marks.

Thumbs up Back in my ride tomorrow!!

I can't wait. I just got the word my baby will be arriving tomorrow. No more RSX!!

Oh, and to my surprise the district warrantee guy is having all the work covered under warrantee. That makes me very happy.

One up for Acura Customer Satisfaction

Thumbs up Back in my Baby

I am very happy to be back in my car!

Acura gets two thumbs up on this occasion, and Acura of Boston!

Splash guard damage is all but gone. I need to work on buffing out one of the rear smudges, but that shouldn't be a problem. The front two side panels look like nothing ever happened.

They were nice enough to give me a free oil change for my troubles. The switch to Redline is here! It is too bad I have been driving around the RSX, because it will be harder for me to be objectionable to a noticeable difference right off the bat.

AND... I had sent a letter to Acura describing the damage my mud flaps caused and this morning they gave me a call. This was very surprising; at the most I was expecting a letter thanking me for the input. Customer Care talked with my Service Mgr to get up to speed on my resolution and make sure that I was getting taken care of. They said they passed my case onto the designer/technical team to have it looked at. The district warrantee guy also took pictures and is keeping tabs on the problem.

Overall I am very happy to see such commitment from people up the ladder and within the dealership to solving a problem with a high level of customer satisfaction. They could have said sorry bud, and told me to get it fixed. They could have rejected covering it under warrantee, but they didn't.
