strobe lights

has anyone ever installed strobes in their headlights or taillights? if so, could you share your experiences on how you mounted it and wired it? i'm thinking of doing this to my TL. thanks!

edit: of course its going to be for show only, i'm not going to flash them while driving etc. or do anything stupid. and i don't think this is a ricer mod, but a vip one.. don't flame!

there are kits on the internet- look for Pace Car lights
be aware that the HID will not like it at all- hook them into the HI beams only
and good luck at the show!

so how would you do this? will the bulb fit the slot along with the hi beams? and where would you connect the power cords for the tail strobes? and how would you wire the control panel into the passenger compartment. sorry im just completely new to this. I'm looking at the following set:

well back when i was, well your age, i wanted to add strobes. the instructions were to basically drill a hole in the headlights, drop the bulbs in and wire it up to a switch. but if i were you, i would NOT drill a whole in your headlights. you can wire the control panel inside the glove box or anywhere you would like, just got to run the wires

yea i dont think i want to do that either. is there any way to buy HID replacement bulbs that can strobe and hook it up to a controller? or am i just dreaming?

i guess i'll just settle for some grill strobes then..

Everyone needs a dream

Read up on the internet how HID lights work- they dont like flickering
You can get units that hook into the other lights and make them go from dim to brite- not fully off then on. That seems to extend bulb life...used on airplanes for example

No no no, do not get strobes, especially those piece of junk ricer ones. If you want lights, get a pair of Whelen TIR3 or LightningX LX4 LEDs. They are self contained, moderately priced, have multiple flash patterns and can be synced to flash together or alternating, not to mention they are 20 times brighter and draw less power! Plus you only have to mount them to something instead of drilling holes in your headlights. You can find them on ebay and there are a few sites if you search google that sell them.

They are professional lighting made for emergency vehicles, just make sure you get legal amber or white colors or never run them outside of the shows. Cops do not like impersonators.

Whelen, LightningX, Tomar, Federal Signal and Code 3 also all have very good, very bright strobes but sho-me and lightningx have the best prices.

I have a dual dashlight with 16 3 watt LEDs so bright they'll blind you but it's for shows and emergencys and is amber/white.

I was thinking about doing the same thing but my idea was going to tie into the alarm, AND only flash if the alarm was triggered.

What is the problem with drilling a hole in the headlight if it is sealed?

i dont think it's fair that we're mobbing on people like this. hell, i think it's rice. but damn im not gonna stop him. if i knew how to hook this shit up i woulda helped him in a heartbeat. all the cars on this forum are dropped, lip kit and wheels. wheels drop lipkit, lipkit wheels drop. it's good to see people breaking new ground, even if it is something we dont like. it's their car, not yours.
if you dont like, then just think of it as him making your car look better
