Stolen Headlights

Well it happened again. This is the second time my lights has been stolen. Not to mention it's only been 2 weeks since I picked my car up from the shop for the first theft. I don't know what to do. I love my car but damn. Someone needs to come up with an idea to prevent this from happening. It's like people can't have nice cars. Do you think a car cover would make a difference or does anyone think that this would cause more destruction to the car by holding up the ***holes trying to still my lights. This sucks car looks awful.

Sorry to hear that... I'm not sure if a car cover would work. If they've got the mindset of taking your lights, then chances are they're going to cut through your cover to get at them. Then you'd be out the lights and a $$$ car cover. I've heard some people say that pulling your car up real close to something in front of you (like another car, or a wall, etc) makes getting at your lights more difficult. I'm not sure if that's foolproof though.

When I was visiting south Jersey and NYC, I'd try to park in friend's garages or very close to another car in their driveway. When I'd go out to restaurants or shopping in Jersey, I'd pull my car up all the way into a bush or something. It looked ridiculous but I still have my original lights. It would suck if you lived there. Sorry to hear man.

park backwards if your in a parking lot. that way your lights are exposed and if they are gonna take them, they will be exposed as well. if you park as far forward as possible into a bush or to another car, it will be easier for them to not be spotted. also, disconnect the ballast from the headlight casing and mount it somewhere in the enigne bay (this may need more modifications to work, but it's worth a try).

In Newark they dont care if your car is parked in the police parking lot. If they want them they will take them... There is nothing you can really do. The only thing would be to park it in a private garage...

The amount of money you spend fixing the lights could probably be better spent renting a garage parking spot.

Like Mr. said Newark isn't the nicest place in the world, I think its has the highest car theft rate in the entire United States.

Only hope in Newark is maybe pay a cop to sit in the car, and that might not even work. You need a garage or get rid of the car. It will continue to happen in Newark.

Correct me if I am wrong, but might there be any way of hooking up an alarm to the lights if you have a custom alarm system? IE: create a contact point to the ballast, etc, whereas when the alarm is activated for the car, when the lights are pulled out it will go off.

Yes a have the alarm to the headlights. Need to attach a module to each light. It is very sensitive, If you touch the lights the alarm goes off. But still it only takes like 30 sec if that to take the lights. I did it anyway!
