Stock Rotor replacement

So I need rotors and I am intending to buy the i-rotors set up but out of curiosity I called the honda dealership where I bought my car and he quoted me a price for the complete 4 wheel set up...rotors/pads/labor as $1084.00. Is this right? I know like all of you know that labor usually cost twice the cost of parts, but really 1084.00. I know on the i-rotor website I can get the complete set for all 4 wheels for less than 500. Can anyone give me an estimate on how much I should pay to install them?

that sounds really expensive for 4 rotors. I thought irotors were a lot cheaper than that. Also, I'd think that it would only take about 2 hours to swap out 4 rotors. So @ $80-$100/hour, $160-$200 ?

that's what I thought..he was getting his price by assuming it was close tot he price of the honda accords cuz he didn't have the pricing for the acura.

with all of the rotor/pad talk here lately, for me, the combo would be rotora rotors and ebc green pads. Those parts fall roughly around $400 (from what I see). And I would do the labor myself.

well now I just called the local acura dealership and they quoted me a price of $1080, I was able to get a break down of the parts and labor charges from them and they said 230 for all pads, 310 for all rotors which means their labor cost the same as all those parts together....damn that all kinds of messed up....I guess I'll be getting an aftermarket set up.

Where are you seeing the set up mentioned for 400?...I am looking on the rotora website and all they seem to have is a big brake kit which is going for 1495.00

The dealer uses the "Labor rate" chart. so they can jacked up the price. Even though the rotor and pad replacements are within the same job. Those "rates" are meant for doing a single job individually. They don't have rates for when you combining jobs like rotor and pad replacement.

That what I was thinking...but you would figure they might want to factor that in when telling someone over the phone, but anyways I think I am going to go with the i-rotor set up.....too bad, a couple months ago or so someone had set up a group buy and would have saved me close to 100.00 ive and learn I guess.

did a quick search and found this link. don't know anything about the company though. That's just for the rotors. The big brake kits include calipers, etc.

and then as fsttyms1 said, the green pads are at tirerack. Sell for $70 I think. And fsttyms1 has run green pads in the past, so he knows whats up.

Nice...good looking out sk2003types. Now the question is going to be which rotors are better? I was gonna ge the zinc coating on the i-rotors and that would bump the price to about 300, but the rotora's for the set is 317......anyone have input on which of these might be better?

I have the irotors for a while now. They are great so far, been through one winter already. I remember I got them zinc coated just to be safe. I don't know about the rotora ones, but I heard good things about them too.

Did you see this post yet ?
http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showt...5&page=2&pp=20

This had a few links on places to buy rotors. I was leaning towards the rotoras because they are slotted. I've always prefered slotted over cross drilled. I didn't see any slotted irotors. Either way, it'll be a while before I get new rotors

The EBC Greenstuff pads ate up my S2000 rotors and were dusty as hell. I'd stay with stock.
