Stock CD Player

How come my CD player sucks? It doesn't read CDR's or CDRW's. Can I take it to the dealer and get it replaced or is it like this with all Bose players? Thanks

I have a Phillips home CD player/recorder and my TL's radio rarely read the CD's. That is just the great BOSE system at work!!
I was going to change the radio...not worth it, so I decided not to use the home cd recorder and bought a LITE-ON cd burner for my computer. My car reads the CD'Rs now that I use the computer cd writer...I have been using Maxell CD'Rs, maybe the brand is your problem???

I have no problem with my CDR's. Maybe you should use better CD-R's.

I haven't had a problem with cdr's yet. Some are saying the only problem they have is when they put those cd labels on, the cd doesn't eject correctly. Maybe you could try better brand cds?

mine reads CD-Rs perfectly...haven't tried CD-RW's but i doubt they'd work.

CD-RWs WON"T work...the CD-Rs will work, but that varies from brand to brand. I use TDK and have no problem anymore. Used to use cheap ones...won't cut it in our TLs...

CD-Rs should work, but it's pretty unlikely that the CD-RWs would work
most CD players don't read CD-RWs until recently

what do you burn your CDs with? maybe that's the reason?

Stock CD

I have a 99tl, and the only problem I have is w/ the sound quality when listening to the radio, CD's(any type) are fine, but when I listen to the radio, it is not as loud, at all!!!

Anyone else have this problem?

I've used Maxell and Imation CDR's (burned on my computer with Easy CD Creator 5) without a problem.

I'm not very happy with the stock radio either. IMO if it didn't say BOSE on it, I probably would have thought it sounded half way decent. I guess with the BOSE (or is it BLOWS) badges one would expect more.

Just another gripe, loading and unloading CD's and changing discs takes WAY too much time. You agree?

I find that the stock woofer and it's placement sux big time, at the driver's seat even with the bass on max, u can barely hear the bass
but then it's too loud sitting in the rear seat,
it's so bad that u can even hear the bass better from OUTSIDE the car
