Stock CD changer jams, then fixes itself!

My OEM in-dash 6-disc changer has been getting worse about spitting out CDs lately. I notice that it does just fine when the car (and radio) is cold but after the heat has been on for a while and the player gets warm (both from use and from the heater), it is less successful at spitting out CDs. Almost like the heat affects how well the rollers can grab the surface of a disc.

So two days ago, my player finally jammed. Normally when it refuses to spit out a CD I can use another CD to press down on the outer edge and it will pop right out. Well this time, it wouldn't spit out and then the door closed and it disappeared (slot with CD moved positions) and it kept displaying the ERR message. I tried several times to get it to eject but I couldn't even see the CD.

I called Northeast Acura on Tuesday and they agreed to order a new unit and call me when it gets in so I can drive there for the swap out. Well, today when I started the car, the CD door opened and there was the CD in plain view! It still wouldn't spit out, but with another CD I was able to coax it out and now the unit is fine. Loaded it back up with six discs and it plays perfect. Well, it still doesn't always want to eject discs--eventually I think before my warranty is up I will get it changed.

Quick question: For anyone who had their head unit exchanged because it wouldn't eject discs--have you had the same trouble with the new head unit after a while? I'm curious to know if they fixed the problem with the rollers.

if you have problems ejecting it when it is hot, wouldnt it be a good idea to wait till its cooled down?
all 6 disc in dash changers will have these problems, i never have seen a unit not get stuck. you can almost always take out the cd.

That is one of the bigger reasons that I put the CDA-7998 in mine.
