Yes. Do a tranny flush.

To a transmission evacuation and get a new tranny filter put in too. Don't just do a tranny flush cause they probably won't change filter, get the pink tranny fluid, can't remember the name of it off hand, but it's better. Also when was the last time you had a tune-up that is also a contributing factor.

What exactly do you mean by stiff shifting? My 99 TL has about 101,000 miles on it and I've just noticed that my shifts have been kind of hard / jerky, especially going up hill with the AC on (if that matters). I'm wondering if this means my transmission is failing - if it fails at 101,000 miles acura better good will me a new one...

the ac will make it shift hard especially while going up hill. oh and on a side note none of my 3 tranny failures had hard, rough shifts

I think I've read a thread on this but doesnt the TL shift really hard when you first start out after it has been sitting for awhile? Mine does this, shifts pretty damn rough but I drive a few blocks and all is back to normal, nothing out of the ordinary. I've heard these things are rough on cold start-ups. My tranny fuid isn't black or anything, just maybe a little dirty red. I think it's ok. If not oh well I'm warranted under it for another 53k.

I have been through 4 trans, all of them shifted hard 2-3 and 3-2 and even 4-5 shifts. They were ALL defective. I am on my fifth trans now and really pissed off . The shifts should be glass smooth ALL the time, especially under load and full throttle. All my problems were at part throttle shifts.
