Stereo unlock CODES
I own a 99 3.2TL and recently had the car serviced. After getting the car back I noticed it needed a code to unlock the stereo. Anybody owning a 99 know where I can locate the code on the car and or the serial number for the stereo?
Thanks!
Thanks!

check the inside of the manual booklet, I think mine was in the leather zip-up booklet that the manual and regustration is in. I am pretty sure it is a white plastic card that has the stereo code on it. I'll check now - but I'm pretty sure that is where it is.

the code is supposed to be on a business card-sized card in your owners portfolio. if you dont have that, you have to call it in either to honda directly or to the dealership.
turn the car to the "on" position, then hold down "1" and "6" at the same time on the radio, then power on the radio. the screen will display the serial number, which you will need when calling the dealership or honda directly.

Yep it is a white card on the inside of the zip-up booklet titled
"Anti-Theft Stereo Registration Code"
there is a white sticker on the card with the numbers on it. Hope that helps

The dealer may have done this for me, but I have a tag on the trunk hinges that has the unlock code for the radio. Un-conspicous unless you know where to look. I don't like to carry the card with me or leave it in the glove box.

Mine never came with the business card and code. Had to bring it back to the dealer 1 week later for them to figure out what the code was. When they did, they printed the code on the invoice I got for the service (no charge).
But it seems like they can track it down 'cause its somewhere in Acura's system. Recently with my tranny transplant, they had to disconnect the power. They called me about the code, which I didn't know off hand, and I told them I had it at home. They called back later telling me they got the code from Acura and unlocked my stereo. Lost all my preset stations, but no big deal. Not much around here! :-D

Thanks for everyone's help. Took it to the dealership and they found the serial number to the stereo under the passenger side wood grain panel on the console. From that they gave me the code - and at no charge!
Thanks again,
Billy

Yea... when I had my 99 HU in, I never recieved the code... but they just called up the dealership in Toronto where the car was originally purchased and gave them the last 6 digits of the VIN. But now that I have my 03 HU in my car... I have a card in my wallet, and then a sticker in the trunk. Whatever you do, dont let them pull the radio out, they can do it another way, they'll just try and charge you money for a pointless procedure.

Oh geez! That brought back the horror of my situation. I remember that the dealer originally wanted to pull my stereo in order to see what is wrong with it. Luckily, they got the code before they pulled the stereo out (or so I thought).

Mounting kits
Since all of you were so helpful with the unlock codes, I have another question, if this is not the right forum, please direct me to the right one:
Does anyone know what mounting kit I need for my 99 Acura 3.2TL, so that I may replace my factory head unit with a different CD player. I have a nice Nakamichi head unit that I wish to install.
Thanks,
Bill
