Steering Wheel Volume Buttons Dysfunction

Has anyone had their volume up and down buttons reverse themselves? Mine started doing it lately and I was wondering how hard/difficult it was to self-repair.

Simply put when I push the volume down, it sometimes gets louder. When I push the volume up, it sometimes changes the station (a la middle button).

Just curious if anyone has opened the side panel and if it was easy to repair.

Recently, mine work intermitently, sometimes not at all...I've read elsewhere that it might be a grounding issue. Hope somebody chimes in with a solution. It may not be that big of a deal, but it's not the way it's supposed to work, and that bugs me.

Hmmm...after reading it, I think I will avoid trying this one as well. If you make a mistake at the dimple stage, you will have to get a new steering column, which can't be cheap.

Not any different, just disconnect the battery then unplug the airbag as you remove. Dont let the "airbag" scare you
