Steering Wheel vibration on Idle

Hey guys I've been noticing lately that when the car is stopped and in "D" im getting a very harsh vibration through the steering wheel and cabin. Once I hit gas the vibration disappears. It seems to only happen during idle in "D" and "N" the vibration is "P" is reduced by almost 75% but still there. The RPM gauge sits steady at 750rpm. I just replaced the front motor mount a year ago and just put in some NGK iridium's but that didn't solve anything. 90% of the vibration is felt through the steering wheel when sitting at red lights really bugs me. I'm wondering if these are worn motor mounts or something related to the IAC or TB being clogged. I've never had a CEL though.

Sounds like a motor mount issue, have you checked the other ones? I'd grab a hold of the side mount bracket and rear mount bracket and tug to see if you can feel any slop, that's how I found a worn side mount that wasn't completely gone yet....was hearing a clunk when engaging 2nd/3rd and duplicated the sound tugging on the side mount bracket.

I have the exact same issue as you, MOBB. I have all new mounts and Ingalls stiffy ETD installed, adjusted to a very stiff setting. I think it has something to do with cheap auto parts store replacement motor mounts, they let more vibrations through. Although i am sure the ETD amplified the problem. Its not a big deal to me, and it doesn't happen all the time either, but when it does the steering wheel vibrates pretty bad sometimes. Iv learned to just deal with it. At least i know my engine mounts are solid, and barely move with the ETD.

90% sure it's your rotors. I believe there was a AZine deal somewhere for all four rotors and pads for $150 or something. Drilled and slotted.

Did you put that rubber piece on that goes with the front mount? Leave it off or let it slip when you drop the motor back down and your car will feel like a massage chair. Did you put the ETD o rings in the right spot? I did what we talked about with the Ebay mounts and ETD at the stiffest setting and my car is smooth as silk. I left the rubber piece off the front mount on accident and the idle was terrible!

Easy way to test mounts is pop hood, hold brake, put car in drive and hit the gas. If your mounts are bad the motor will try to fly away. Must be in DRIVE....dont fall out of the car trying to see the motor!

Same problem here, not too bad though. Anybody know how long my mounts will last until they become intolerable?

After while the car will jerk on shifts, the motor will make loud clunking noises unless you feather the gas upon take off, you will slam into reverse when cold....eventually you can damage axles, etc.

I ordered the set of 5 mounts from ebay (3 motor + 2 tranny). Does that rubber piece come with the new mounts or do I reuse the old one? So I shouldn't get any vibrations with these ebay mounts?

All rubber pieces are intact, and o-rings are in place. I slowly developed vibrations over the course of a few months to what they are today. Its only a minor problem for me at idle stopped in drive with foot on brake. doesnt really amount to much, so i can live with it. Its not a massage chair or anything like that.

I believe my rear motor mount may be part of the problem, since its an aftermarket anchor mount. It has larger rubber stop tabs on it than the stock rear mount, so when it compresses it bottoms out the tabs causing vibrations. Iv posted pictures of this somewhere, comparing the two mounts.
