Steering wheel problems / options

The leather on my steering wheel has really worn lately. It's coming off in small chunks now and is really looking pretty bad. I did a search and found most people replace the entire wheel. While that is an option, I wanted to find out what some of you other guys have come up with.

I've seen the wheelskins (www.wheelskins.com) and the perforated option may be o-k. Does anyone have direct experience with this product?

Do you guys know of any other cover type options? I'd rather stay away from the autoparts stores for this as they rarely fit well and look nice in my opinion.

This starting happening on my parents 03...They got a Leather cover for forty something dollars a few years back from a local store called the drivers seat...Its a pretty nice auto accessory store...
The cover held up pretty well, and its not a generic one that just slips on...You actually have to stitch it together once on the wheel.

Are you into modding your car ?
RSX wheel looks good as long as you don't mind losing stereo steering wheel controls.

this might be the wheelskins I mentioned - they are leather, priced around $50-$60 and have to be stitched on. How does it feel? Would you mind posting a pic when you get a chance?

yeah, I'm modded and don't mind modding more, but i do not necessary want to get rid of the steering controls. that would present a problem with the RSX wheel.

Its a few years old, and it just started wearing badly...It held up great though for the first couple of years...
Heres there site if you wanna give them a call or something.

And it looks EXACTLY like the oem steering wheel did, but just a little bit bulkier.

that doesn't look bad at all - pretty damn good actually. wonder if that wheel comes in light tan to match my interior and steering column?

I run a felt covered steering wheel cover- good grip- doesnt get scorching hot (its still 100f here!) and was cheap--target seems like where I found it

or for the leather crowd- the ones in the link appear to be a quality product

Have fun lacing!!,,ahhh the old days when that type cover was all you could buy- had to lace carefully,,pull- stretch,,align,,,got off seam line,,undo and repeat...

I also bought the wood grain wheel off eBay. My steering wheel was peeling and deteriorating badly.

The 1G MDX does, but the color doesn't match exactly.

I've thought about getting the MDX wheel in black and painting the airbag to match.

Mine is starting to get bad especially around the top of the wheel. As of now im just trying to keep it clean and use protectant on it regularly. When it gets really bad i want to swap it for the newer 2nd gen one with the nice logo on it

I thought your car was supposed to come with it.

Either way, the logo is on the airbag. You'd have to change the airbag also to get the logo.

that leather looks like a pretty good match to your interior. the MDX wheels are off quite a bit (much darker) - how did you get it to match?

^ I asked him that too. It's because that's the TL wheel, not MDX.
