Steering Wheel Help..
i have a 2000 NGM TL, with Beige interior over the years the steering wheel has lost some of its leather or coating where i usually hold the wheel, its very noticibale on the top of the wheel. It looks like brownish dirt... lol it looks like the leather ripped off. Anyways is there any way of fixing this because it really looks bad.
Also how much does a detailing service cost at an acura dealership in Canada thanks.
By they way the steering wheel looks like this but much more worse.. what can I do?

I checked with Acura, there gonna charge me 120 to fix the wheel lke new, but they are not gonna replace the wheel. What do you think would be a better option, to get it fixed or to put in a new wheel? And how much would a new wheel cost with installation.
Rough guess: probably ~ $90 or so to install assuming 1.5 hours labor, and $158.24 for a replacement wheel from OEM Acura Parts:

If I was going to do this, I would probably go for a Wood/ Leather wheel. If not, it's a lot of $$$ just to bring it back to factory condition. I would either go with a recoloring kit, or just go with a wheelcover, like www.wheelskins.com. I have one and really like it. It's stitched over the existing wheel, is leather, and you have a choice of colors and if you want it perforated or not. The Oak color available pretty closely approximates the color of the wheel from the factory. Here's mine:

thanks for the pic, Wheelcovers look okay.... but the steering wheel looks way to thick with the extra layer of leather. I guees im gonna go with a wooden/ leather wheel. But anyways how did u get that stiched on?
Actually, I prefer it with the thicker grip. I sometimes think about getting the wood/leather wheel, but because of cost and the fact that it would feel thinner in the hand, I haven't done it. If you want a wood/leather wheel, go to exoticwooddash.com, and they sell them there: $299 + $50 core charge. After you swap, you send in your wheel to get your $50 back.
Good Luck.
Good Luck.
I forgot to mention, stitching it on is easy, takes about an hour. The cover is leather and is ~$45 with the color choices I made and with the perfs in the leather. You use a lacing cord and needle- the holes are prepunched in the leather.
I had the exact same issue, except the dirt was around 9 and 8 o'clock on the wheel, where I usually have my left hand. I thought it was stained or ground in too.
I originally got some Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Wipes and pretty much just ran it softly across the leather because I wasn't sure how they were going to work. Of course nothing came off.
A few months later I became determined to give it another go, and I really scrubbed the wheel with those wipes. All the dirt came right up, just took a little elbow grease.
So I would say if you're not exactly sure the nature of the stain/discoloration, get some leather cleaner and give it a try before you pay to have it replaced.

I would have the dealership recover your current wheel with matching leather if I was in your situation and did not want to get a wood wheel.
