Like stated above its the metal ring behind the airbag that makes contact. There was a TSB for it for the dealers. If you feel comfortable removing the airbag and steering wheel (not hard at all) there is a PDF on how to fix it i can send you

Today my steering volume control went nuts. The down button turns volume up. Up button selects track. Dealer wants $100 for inspection. I disassembled the steering volume control. It seems to generate different resistance for up, down, and track select. Could it be the spring problem listed here? (Radio direct volume knob works fine.) [Gosh! will the cruise control have the same problem!!!]

Welcome to the forums.

I deleted your other three posts since they were duplicates of this one and were posted in 1-2 year old threads. This post will be sufficient to get your question answered and whatever assistance may be needed to solve your problems.

Just found out it is not a switch problem. Its in the steering column near 0 degrees (steering straight).
Turn right 90 degrees, switches works fine. Turn left 90 degrees, down button becomes channel select. Turn left 180 degrees, buttons work again.
