Steering help

Hi, I just got a used TL. It's a 2001 with 75k, very clean. It seems to be experiencing the tranny issues ive been reading about, and also the warped rotors. However, it also has a very tight steering, and i know the steering is supposed to be loose. The tires might have low pressure, can that be the cause of the very tight steering?

I have a few days to return the car to the lot if im not satisfied. Owner agreed to replace rotors, and i know the tranny is covered under warranty ... but i want to know why my steering is very tight?

and also one more thing. if my car is in park, or even in drive (and i am at a red light) the steering wheel vibrates. not too hard but still vibrates. is this a tranny issue?

thanks for the help

well the steering on our cars is fairly tight. but not hard tight. does it feel like the power steering has gone out?. i dont know why your steering wheel would shake. it shouldnt be any thing related to the tranny.the only thing i can think of would be a slightly rough idle that you are feeling through the steering wheel, or the rack it self is going. if you firmly grab one of the front tires and shake it back and forth do you feel any sloop or hear any clunking or any thing? you shouldnt hear or feel any thing
