Good luck with the swap. Considering the engine is new, how much did you pick it up for?

Shell out a bit more cash flow and maybe it a 6-speed while you're at it.

Dude if it was that cheap, maybe go find a junk CLS6 or AV6 and pull the trans out. Def agree on port and polish too. Goodluck bro!

My first goal is to have the engine ready to run. I'm going to be ordering the new gaskets and such shortly after I receive the shortblock. I've ran into an issue already involving the head gaskets, hopefully one of the gurus can chime in (we know who you are )

Was double checking the part numbers, came up with an issue. Not sure which rear cylinder head gasket kits to pick up. Odyssey, TL, or TL-S. Obviously my natural choice would be the standard TL-P gasket, since those are my heads. But since I came accross odd variances (2 Type-S Gaskets per bank, front banks being the same for ody/TL yet rears dif) I figured I would go ahead and ask if anyone knew why. The block kit and front bank kit is a no brainer, the rear im not so sure about.

Block Gasket Kits (Same):
6111-P8A-A01 (TL/TL-S/Odyssey)

Front Cylinder Head Gasket Kits:
06110-P8F-A13 (TL-S #1)
06110-PGK-A11 (TL/TL-S #2/Odyssey)

Rear Cylinder Head Gasket Kits:
06120-P8F-A14 (TL-S #1)
06120-PGE-A12 (TL/TL-S #2)
06120-PGK-A12 (Odyssey)

If your going to spend the money on it i would turn it into a type-s motor. I dont see the gains from keeping it a tl-p 3.5 worth the money.

Thats the idea if things go according to plan just need to find a cheap CL6 Engine. Thats why I'm confused about there being 2 different part numbers for each head gasket for the Type-S, did they update its construction or something?

i dont think so since the 3.2 of that year was a C32...

and I believe its mounted the opposite way

what you can do is try and get the C32 and then mate the Legend 6 speed tranny to it

how much power do you think you'd make by making adding a 3.5 to an -s engine?

Currently I have a base non-s engine. This build is gonna be long and slow, taking a lot of knowledge gained from Austins build. This engine will be somewhat blueprinted (fully if funds allow) for reliability purposes, not power. But to answer your question, a Type-S to 3.5 Type-S conversion has been rumored to be roughly 40 HP at the crank, estimated, if I remember correctly. Basically it just gives you more noticeable torque in the low end. a 3.5 bottom end is 10:1, a Type-S is 10.5:1. A true Type-S 3.5 would be only the rods and crank while still retaining the Type-S pistons. Just throwing Type-S heads on a complete 3.5 bottom end running 10:1 wouldn't net gains near as much as the 10:5 build.

This will be a 11:1 NA build using forged RL pistons.

Station, i never run into those kinds of things....You should let me know when you do
