Starter went bad then good again? Advice?
Starter went bad then good again? Advice?
Guys,
About 2 days ago, my 99 TL wouldnt start due to the starter (all power was fine, but did not crank over...only single click of the starter.
Well, yesterday, I decided to try cranking it a few times and after 10 clicks, the car started (starter gear catched).
The car has started consistently the last 3 times I've started it...is it normal for a starter to miss then be fine again?
Thanks

a 99- you may have a bad ignition switch- there is a recall for those, and even if it was replaced a few years ago- they can still die.
Call acura 1-800-382-2238 x5 or drop by the dealer and ask them to run the VIN for you- and check any recall items to fix FREE for you~

Seems like the starters on the 1999 TLs are starting to reach their life span/usage after 10 years. Your starter is definitely in the process of dying. Mine had those exact same symptoms right before it died for good. Do yourself a favor and go grab another one from the autoparts store. When I opened my old one, I immediately discovered the bushings were all worn to dust. There was nothing to make that spark anymore.
