ok I had my starter replaced by goodyear because I couldn't get the damn bolts off

Before I took her in ( off the top of my head... I think it was a denso or mitsuba)... I had a quick and powerful start when I turned the ignition key...

They talked me in to getting a re-manufactured starter and after I got the car back... my car starts up fine... but kind of like shit and it takes like 2 seconds longer sometimes...

This has to be the starter right? and does anyone know if there's a really good aftermarket starter out there for our cars?...

Now that I have this piece of S^^^, I miss the stock one and might change it out if I can find a good price...

it also doesn't matter about the weather... I notice that my car starts up way different than before... I should have posted this when it got done... but it still starts up so I'm just putting up with it

Have you cleaned the battery terminals and checked the cables for corrosion- a 2000 may be needing cables at this point, just based on the other issues with your car, and with that boomer stereo- you could be putting the hurt on the battery itself

Any parts store cant test the alternator -battery and starter for FREE with a small mobile machine. Then you will know whats up

I have a yellow top battery now and the terminals are clean... the cables look fine... I just noticed a difference immediately after they installed the re-manufactured starter...

I guess, if someone else has to have it done at some point... Go with oem for sure... unless, someone here knows of a fancy starter or something...

I have been chasing a elec. prob in my truck- replaced the neg cable and a few of those little bare metal ground wires from engine to chasis- all better now.

Makes me think one of those ground wire kits or a homemade kit, is a good investment on the TL. Ground the battery and chassis at 4 points with some good wire instead of 1 or 2 small ones that are several years old. Remember that all the sound eqiupment is straining the power and ground wires. High rpm puts a test of things too
