Question starter problems $$

my 97 3.2TL starter is out.. i took it to the mechanics they said it would cost about $ 600 to repair including parts and labor ,,, is this a fair price?? it will only cost me $100 because of the extended warrenty ..

my starter was acting up all week and finally it just quit ..

What? $600 for a starter? I'd get a second opinion. Are they also replacing the the flex plate/flywheel? That would cost about $600. Starters cost about $330 for your car.

I have a '96 2.5TL and my starter went out about a month ago. Got a brand new one installed for $280 I think it was including labor and 2 year warrenty. Shop around, with the starter, you don't have to go to a dealership. Pepboys did a good job with mine.
