Wondering if anyone can help? I have a 2003 tl-s and last night I was driving roughly about 70 kph and was a little late to cross an intersection so I down shifted twice and was breaking hard. My car came to a complete stop and stalled. Has anyone heard of anything like this?

 

A friend of mine stalled while sitting in traffice. He has the same car as your's and he brought it back to the dealer, and they said there was a screw near the throttle body and it was not fully opened when it came out of factory. I never heard of such a thing, but 2 weeks later, the car stalled again. This time the dealer has no clue. I'm not an expert, but I told my friend to tighten his gas cap with at least 4-5 clicks, after that, the problem went away. Hope this helps.

 

its very possible when you braked hard the torque converter never 'unlocked' causing the engine to stall.


As for the loose gas cap... you would have the check engine light on, not a driveability problem.

 

Would shifting quickly cause this problem? I'm sure that it would go into 2nd gear at about 70kph.

 

Your car stalls because YOUR FUEL PUMP AND PRESSURE REGULATOR are malfunctioning. This is due to running your car on (Empty) all the time. Try to keep atleast half a tank in your car at all times. The fuel pump is 1000, Acura will not cover this in your warranty if they can prove that you drive on (E)mpty alot.

My case was pretty bad due to the combination of Intake, Pullies, Bad fuel pump. My car would shake at stop lights, and start revving on its own. It would go up to 1300 rpm then down to 300 rpm and then it would stall.

At one point I could force my car to stall sitting still, by revving and then abruptly lettting go, watching my rpms drop below 200 and then silence.... all my lights on the dash board light up and I'd press the gas but my car rolls

 

I've never had my even close to empty, I think I know what you mean. My car kinda shakes when it is idling and I can't find out why. The dealer said that it is still new so let it wear in. BS?

 

Keep on naggin em till your satisfied. They will have to fix the problem no matter what. Do you have any mods? If so take em off and then go in. DONT GIVE THE BASTARDS ANY EXCUSES!

You might have a "cracked" engine mount. It is not common for a new car...but then again, you never know.

 

Have the dealer check you connection to the coil-packs... Mine looked fine but the pins were bent... hence did not have a good connection, which first started as a shudder at some gear changes and eventually the thing was misfiring like crazy... This was only after it was 2 months OLD !!!

 

Don't know what causes it, but, yes, I've experienced that, but not with my Acura. Breaking hard to a stop, with an automatic trans. Again, yeah, but dunno....
