Happened on my '02 a few days ago. There's a thread in the DIY on how to reset it.

Chances are there was some sort of recent electrical work which often triggers the SRS light to come on, IDK why...but try the reset procedure !

Happened to our 2000 TL several months ago. Factory shop manual says don't even attempt a repair. Dealer has a special analyzer to find the fault. It was a seat belt clip which was faulty and Acura replaced it for free, probably they don't want liability issues if the airbags don't deploy. When my wife picked up our car there was a Chinese guy getting the bad news about his transmission doing the $4000 freakout.

Did they even charge you the 98$? do you know if they charge you the diagonostics fee for the SRS light if it happens to not be the seatbelts and you decide not to fix it? (mainly because i wont have money to fix it right away if it isnt)

They will charge you the fee if you don't fix the problem.
If the problem isn't under warranty your screwed.

Yeah, save up a few bucks.....the $98 diagnostic fee may prove cheaper than a new car payment.

There are MANY things that can cause the SRS light. Most common thing is the OPDS sensor in the passenger seat.

And no offense, but if you dont have the money to fix the issue how do you have the money for a new car? Kind of stupid to get rid of the car for what could be a fairly inexpensive fix. Especially if you do it yourself and search around for the part used.

I have an odd feeling it has to do with the airbags.. Since the side airbag light will pop on sometimes. And i can just sell the car and buy a new one, i only paid 1700 for it.

No charge for anything. Like I said, probably a liability concern so they might figure waiving the fee is better than dealing with lawyers. The dealer was Elite Acura in Maple Shade NJ. All positive experiences with their service department, though routine maintenance I do myself so that limits my visits to their shop.
