i followed these steps, took me two times but it went off
instead of using the MES connector, i used two pieces of wire. connected on to one side and the other to the other side and just touched them together, help if u have two ppl.

And if it comes back on bring it in to the dealer. There is a recall and it may be that part. With that light on none of the airbags work.

the special extended warranty on the SRS is 10 years/150,000 miles!!

The service manager says there are several parts covered by it, say 5 of the 6 parts there, and that 99.99% chance it is a warranty covered issue, a safety issue for sure.
Get to the dealer- do not pass go- do not collect a tree on the way

it may be a false warning or it may be one of the parts that is covered under the special warranty

If it were my car- straight to the dealer,, and they will find it to be warranty~
Like the SM told me, 99.99% chance its a covered part

if u clear the light the airbags will go off unless you have a part that failed. i took out my airbag and started my car so i know no parts were bad. clear it my way and if it comes back on then you have a failed part

The LIGHT will go out.

I had this issue when removing a fuse in the driver's side panel one time to install something. If the battery isn't disconnected before pulling that fuse (don't remember exactly which one it was) the SRS light comes on & stays on.

If you do the procedure and the light goes off and STAYS off they are fine. If it comes back on they wont work again and you have a problem that needs to be fixed by the dealer. You may want to just bring it in and have them see. Like said before, there is a warranty extension on a SRS part that is usually the cause for the light that should be replaced (especially if it triggered the light)

Now if you were working on the car and unplugged something you shouldnt have then i would follow the procedure above and just reset teh system

o i see. thanks..
when i called acura client services..and they told me what recall needed to be done or were done on my TL.. they didnt mention one about the SRS light.. so is this something that cant be tracked by the VIN.. and something electrical that the dealer needs to diagnose to determine if its a recall..

also will the dealer charge me something for them to look at this?

If you did not do any work on the car with the electrical system- then its most likely a problem that is covered by a special `warranty extension`
- its NOT a recall, and unless you ASK the low paid phone person at the 800# to look up extended warranty items- they may not.

What recalls DID they say needed to be done? If ANY recalls get the car in the dealer now!
While its there, the SRS can be checked if the red SRS light is ON while driving

By law they must write an inspection/diagnosis invoice- usually 1 hour labor at the standard customer type invoice rate. That allows them to look at your car.

If its determined to be a warranty problem, a special warranty repair work order is made and the work proceeds. Then its no charge to you at all-the diagnosis fee and repair is paid by acura corp to the dealer

If its a `recall` you are in for- those are totally free to you and are written on a special work order...its always about the paperwork in life eh~

VIN is exactly how it, and all recalls and warranty extensions are tracked- you didnt ask the right question is all!

A start number VIN and end number VIN = cars made between these vehicle identification number sets are covered by ....
