doubtful. Reset the SRS light and see if it comes back on. If it does, at minimum get the codes read from the dealer and replace the part thats bad. With that light on NONE of your airbags will work in an accident.

I forgot the most important question!
Did you do ANY electrical work on the car - before it got the SRS light?
if so do the reset found in our DIY list--sometime you get false codes

if it comes back on its a bad part
find a ziner with a scanner or a place to read the srs codes to determine which of 5 main parts you need
maybe you can find the part used???

as kris said., drive with the extra knowledge of,, no airbags

Hey kinda random but on the same topic. When I have a passenger or my lunch in the passenger seat the side airbag light turns on. Is this normal? Is there a sensor to detect weight in the seat and activate the srs on passenger side??

OPDS determines if passener is leaned over or way back - it disables passenger `side` airbag= which could break their neck if deployed when they are out of position!

it measures weight and weight differances, so your lunch will trigger it too

the owner book contains all this info~

I’ve got the same problem-srs light is on. Where is the plug located to do the reset? I checked the DIY section and the video was a honda civic. Is our plug in the same location? I checked in the same area and couldn’t find it. Thanks.

Yeah, sometimes our dash lights forget that Christmas is over. Ha, hah !!!
Keep your fingers crossed that the "SRS" light stays out, otherwise there may be a real problem.

Unhappy SRS dead.........

Hey man, make sure that ya don't forget to buckle up in the meantime !

The SRS system is very complex, but 1k for a fix seems a bit much. That must be a brand spankin' new computer, apparently the dealership won't use refurbished parts when working with repairing the SRS. Probably a liability issue.

If it's only that one component that's been diagnosed as being faulty, ya may want to research the availability of an alternative replacement. Maybe your local salvage wrecking yard ?

Nah like you say its a very important piece of equipment and I would not trust an Used Item either... And Yes pretty much they tried to retrieve codes and the Special Tool used for SRS would not show up a thing, The Mechanic then said my SRS Computed Died and I needed a Brand New One.. 1K is parts + labor.
