SRS light

Long story short, gotten into an accident some time ago and both my airbags deployed. I had gotten a good deal in the black market for both airbags along with the module. Seller said airbags were never deployed and were taken out of the car after payment was sent.

I proceeded to install them today and everything went smoothly besides the fact that the SRS light won't go away. I did the reset method using the false/blank connector under the steering wheel with a paper clip. Got the SRS light to blink twice, wait a couple minutes, start the car, but it's still there. I tried it a couple more times to no avail.

Could someone point me in the right direction if I am doing something wrong here or are there any possible solutions to this? Thanks in advance.

If the air bags deployed you should check for seatbelt auto restrain system lock up! I believe in a crash they can get damaged and won't work again..

Though this is speculation until you get the SRS Codes read.. Only 99bucks at Honda!!

After replacing the airbags and main SRS module unit, have the systems codes read as Skirmich suggested.
The system is complex in nature and may require additional diagnostics. Perhaps a local bodyshop can help ya.

that's what I was thinking, body shops would need to test the systems- would make sense they have the special reader needed- and charge slightly less than dealer

or does someone know if the standard obdi2 reader will find srs codes?
harbor freight tools always has a deal on them

I agree with seatbelt tensioners- read something about that- try our search
Who has had the car repaired after airbag deployment? most of the time on the TL, bags out means total loss

Yeah, the regular readers won't work......takes a special one for SRS.
Ya may wanna try the "reset" procedure again as it can be a bit tricky.

^ Exactly! Been there done that! even with a 1K Bucks OBDII Reader I could not find the SRS Setup Menu..
Honda decided to put a special reader port (With a Special proprietary Plug) only for SRS Codes, So the OBDII Logic wont work.

IIRC There is no way around paying 99 bucks in Honda/Acura to read these codes.. They say that they will discount the read if you fix the issue in place but more than often SRS Issues aren't Cheap to fix, Honda Smarty Pants.

Will the seat belt lock up even if it wasn't in use while the accident occurred? Reason I ask is because a family member had borrowed it and did not use the seat belt during the accident. Luckily they came out not having a single scratch on them.

Also, will I have to reset the module even if I am using another one that's hasn't had its airbags deployed but taken out/unplugged from another car? Hopefully this won't be confusing to some.

Without an SRS code reader that can work for Honda's you're out of luck.
I got one from a company named Xtool for $150 that can read srs abs and more.
It wasn't a one time investment, I use it a lot on other japanese cars and works flawlessly.

Does the seat belt light come up on the dash at all ?

I guess I just have to find someone with a SRS reader or shell out and go to Honda.

Seat belt light does come on when not clicked in.

Hey '03TL-S, ya may wanna download a copy of the Factory Service Manual.

It may help answer some of your concerns. Have ya tried the seatbelts to see if they all work properly ? Chances are that the SRS system.....even with the "assumed" good module will require being reset, IDK.
Hopefully this isn't too confusing, but the SRS system is beyond the scope of the typical everyday DIY'er.

All seat belts work properly. Locks up when you pull down hard and retracts perfectly. I'm guessing getting the SRS system read is the only way to find out what's wrong.
